it has to be fixed because I had it happen counless times as well, sucks not having the app at its full pontential. it crashed in multi season shows

The Crunchyroll PS3 App is just highly unstable and without any software updates to fix the bugs and memory leaks it has I don't see a reason why they force us to have a premium account to use it.

In its current stat I would label it as alpha release and no where near close to be called a beta release. Matter of fact how did CR even get the approval of Sony to have it released on the PSN Store to begin with?

This thread topic actually just happened to me twice in a row when browsing through "The World God Only Knows" and it blacked screened me on Episode 7 each time and I had to press the power button on the PS3 in order to force a shutdown since the controller had no control each time.

I have the PS3 crunchy roll app and the ipad app never had a problem with the ipad app until recently but the PS3 app I've had a lot of problems but I found that going slow and paying attention to screen details helps a lot to where it only crashes on me very now and then. Example when browsing episodes in a Season I have to let the description of the ep appear and give it 2-5 seconds before I move on or it will almost certainly crash. Those little things tell you when your frustrating the app to where it might crash but even so it still throws its fits.

I like to use the PS3 so I can watch on my tv instead of a 12 inch ipad but having to go so slow and the crashes it's almost not worth it. Even so I could live with the crashes and going slow. My big problem is why are some shows on the ipad app but not the PS3? Or some of my shows on PS3 have simply disappeared from the app? Yet I can find them and watch on the ipad? have you guys had this problem?

Have you checked your "Mature" settings? You have to go to your video settings on the website and set "Show Mature Content" in order for a number of series to show up on your PS3 app.

Wow! that seems to have done it Thank you looks like all the shows I had have re appeared on my PS3. Kinda strange though my PS3 Ipad and phone app all had different mature settings. And some shows were definitely more mature yet not blocked anyways hope the lag issue is solved sooner then later.

Any fix or any update so far because the app crashing every 5 minutes starting to get extremely irritqting when its already became 2 hours and I've still yet watched even one episode...

One workaround might be to queue up the video you want in a browser and play the first few minutes, then access the video inside the app from the History page (pretty sure this was a feature of the PS3 app).

The noted issue happens to me every couple of months. Recently, I've re-added Valvrave: The Liberator to my queue (took it out as I did not know that there would be a second season). I've gone through the troubleshooting steps as listed in one of the previous posts but every single time I scroll through the episodes, I just get a beep + black screen and I have to manually restart my console.

Rapid scrolling with R2 results in this and I've tried going one episode at a time and at around episode 12 (on Valvrave: The Liberator) I get the annoying crash.

From time to time Naruto Shippuden will do this as well and I've also experienced this with Attack on Titan.

If you do not have the show in your queue does it cause the same thing to happen?

Yes, it's happened before to shows I did not have in my queue. I will remove Valvrave from my queue and check if there is an improvement. I'll do the same for Naruto.


EDIT:

I removed Valvrave: The Liberator from my queue and accessed it under the alphabetical search. I browsed through the episode list with no issues. I added it back to my queue and I'm pleased to say that there are no issues with browsing through episodes
