As someone who has had depression my whole life. I just delt with it the best way I could by playing MMO's all day and watching anime. I was lonely and depressed, but I didn't give a damn. It wasn't until I got my heartbroken with my second girlfriend that I really noticed how bad my depression was. What did I do? Go get help, counselor, get medication, all that. It helped a great deal. It really depends on how depressed you actually are. I was to the point of where my arms were raw from cutting. So yeah. But i'd recommend anyone to get help from a counselor before going overboard like I almost did.

I write down my troubling/obsessive thoughts in a journal. That's the method that works best for me. I take a pencil & just let the emotions flow onto the paper. It makes me feel so much better.

So rather than leaving a pointless post, I ask a few questions:

Do you get depressed?

Doesn't everyone? I doubt there is one person out there that doesn't get depressed.


How often do you feel truly down?

Once or twice a day? I noticed I'm most depressed during nights when I'm in bed. Can't help that brain from listing all your failures well you're trying to sleep.


What do you do to pick yourself back up again?

I like to keep myself busy and occupied with the good things in life. I notice I'm less depressed when I'm out and about rather than sitting at home doing nothing. Maybe that's why I usually get depressing thoughts when I'm trying to sleep.

Well first step .)do whatever it gets you really fired up,listen to some bad ass music.Then step two .)Do something what you really excel at until you can do it no more(getting tied etc.).Step three .) Enjoy fruits of your labour and give yourself a pat on shoulder.^^

Ridiculous positivity. Stops working after a while, and I spend 90% of my time depressed. Even if I ain't got too many problems for once, I'll just have a neurotic mood swing.

I only start to get down when I'm home alone. I'm an extremely... bubbly character, shall we say, when I'm with my friends, so simply being in their company effortlessly slips me into a better state of mind. So, I just keep myself out and about as much as possible. I'm busy enough in the non-holiday week as it is, I try to meet up with my mates as much as possible and I keep myself occupied with dancing and drama in my own time. The drama, especially, can really act as a welcome escape for me. A bit cliché, perhaps, but it really helps to slip into another character, another world, and really express myself.

The one thing I've never done, and never will do, is burden other people with my negative emotions. I never linger on arguments and always stay bright when I'm with my friends. Spend any more than a couple of days alone, though, and it starts to surface.

Of course, whether or not I've truly experienced depression is another thing. I can't say for sure. I'm sure I've teetered on the edge a few times, though.

When the grey or black mood overtakes me there is little that can be done. Nothing tastes good, nothing feels fun, i'm not motivated to do anything, and sometimes I can't even care enough to try to snap out of it. Usually just some random event will pull me out of it. Whether it be a really great and deep conversation, helping someone solve their own issues, hanging out with a good friend, or whatever...

Usually a nap works for me. but sometimes nothing works, so i just laze around and watch anime and deal with it.
