And do you budget for it? No replies like "Zero" or "Who pays for anime?" as it will inevitably derail this discussion into that thread.

Between 2009-2012 I probably spent £300 altogether (so £100 per year) on anime and manga, however most of that was from gift money

Now that I have a job (only part time) I've managed to spend £400 between January - July. Most of that money was spent on backlogging on shows I watched years ago and always wanted to have as part as my collection and of course my Crunchyroll subscription I haven't even started collecting series I've seen recently. I've decided to budget £600-650 this year for anime, and will probably keep it at about £500 next year and subsequent years after.

And now I just wonder how much do people who also buy anime figures, cosplay, attend 3 day cons and buy all sorts of merchandise spend...? I feel like I'm spending quite a bit on just the anime and manga bit - I don't even know how others do it!

well, I don't know currency transitions, but I spend a good 50$ a month for an anime channel on my tv, so I guess that counts, but it's worth it considering it is literally the only channel I watch

Crunchyroll is a pretty free(!) site so... zero? I don't collect a lot of anime stuff and that is out of the equation. I only watch anime. If I were to scrutinize then 70 dollars a month since I need to pay for Internet.

We'll go with 70 a month so... 840 dollars a year.

In between paying for Crunchyroll's awesome monthly membership and picking up the titles that I like. I'd say at least $40 a month. If it's manga volumes and anime DVD's combined. I've spent more than that before. However, I don't purchase anime DVD/Blu-ray box sets, single volumes etc every month. I try to factor in shipping costs or special pro-rated offers. Thanks to my Got Anime membership I save a lot more than I have with previous purchases on rightstuf.com. And Crunchyroll has really good deals in the store for members too. I saved at least $10 off my Black CR T-Shirt!

I probably spend about $80-$100 on anime, The crunchyroll anime membership for a year, and then some dvd's which are not available on here. Thank Manga Entertainment for licensing. A few years ago, I used to spend $50 on Manga, but now I need to save money for textbooks for college

I don't buy anime, only Manga. I'm always looking at the Manga section for the latest reads and I never look at the Anime section. Saves me aton of money.

It ranges a lot. I maybe only spent about $20 this past month, but I've also spent as much as $150+ in a month. So, I probably average in the neighborhood of $50 a month.

I've only recently started buying animes dvd/blu rays (due to the fact I got a job). And over the last year I've probably spent about $250. Although I'm probably going to spend a lot more soon

So I recently got my first job, and I've spent nearly none of my earnings on anime, which really surprises me. I need to start a "buy list" so I can start rationing out my earnings better.

Cause I got a lot of crap to buy: Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari, JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, Oreimo, Each of the Index's and Railgun's, Shin Sekai Yori... The list will go on.

A few hundred a year on average, but that depends on my con schedule. Even if I don't count the con badge or hotel, the dealer's room always drains my savings pretty fiercely. It's somewhat less these days because I live in OK, while before I was in CA, which had a LOT more anime, manga, and model kit stores that caught my eye and my money.

I seem to recall one dealer's room that ended up costing $500 on its own one year...

Haha I also have a "to buy list" comprising of around 30 shows/movies. It'll probably take me 2-3 years to complete that list, buy which time I'll probably be adding another 15-20 Not to mention all the manga series I've to complete: Bakuman, Black Butler, Hikaru no Go...
