Ok, so you decided you would hit this discussion up and see just what is the Traveling Gnome Prank.

But first, I should get the important stuff out of the way. This is purely a discussion and in no way a suggestion or a reason why you should consider taking up this silly idea. In reality this prank, albeit is a prank. It is still very much illegal. So, please. Don't take this as permission. Thanks!

Ok, few. That is all done now. Now, now we get to the good bit.

So the Traveling Gnome prank starts out fairly simple. Someone who like having their garden tended to small gnomes ends up waking the following morning one gnome less than when they went to bed. But, the trouble does not end there. The next step is to send that gnome on a vacation. Maybe to Paris or to Russia. Or even England. Some where, off the beaten path from where it originally made its home. Once there, the gnome star's in a series of pictures with known landmarks. Such as for instance the clock everyone should know about in England, Great Ben. Now, there are two divergent paths that can occur at this point. One, the Gnome never returns home but the pictures are delivered with post cards wishing the owner of the gnome was with them. Second, the gnome is returned in a shoe box filled with all of the pictures and returned to the original owner.

So, that get the description out of the way. Now I have a question for you. Do you know anyone with a Gnome in need of a vacation. Would you do it? Could you really do it? Come on, this is purely fantasy now. If you stole some ones gnome. Where would you go to have three pictures of it taken? Would you want your own Gnome taken on a vacation?

I'll just put in my response here now. Were it me, I would totally love the idea of doing this.
I would start out with a picture in front of a known location. Like say town Hall. Then I'd get a picture at the bus terminal. Then I think I'd finish up with something really really unexpected and take the gnome to a wild life preserve to get a picture and pick up a post card. Then write on it. Wish you were here. This, this is a garden.

First reaction to hearing this were the Travelocity Gnome ads, which so happens to be based off this prank. I'd do it without a second thought, Just for the sake of trolling someone and a few good laughs.

So true. ^_^

The really neat information with you can find on wikipedia and such. Is that there are a number of coalitions and leagues that sprang up as well. There is even a small country that is welcoming all free'd gnomes a home to be free of the dreaded weed whacker. Because no one is allowed to own one. So silly.
