Its a problem on CrunchyRolls end and I would like to know what they are doing to fix it or if they have even taken notice of the problem. I am posting in this forum and maybe a few others despite how old they are because I have had this problem for quite a long time, 8+ months. At first it was every 8 videos would freeze once or twice. In the past few weeks it has been much more often and the last 3 or so days it has been so often I have actually refreshed the video 10 times an episode for 10 episodes in a row. Today a video froze and I refreshed it, the video never started again, I refreshed 2 more times and the video still never played meaning I never got to watch said video. I just got done doing ALL the recommended video fixes and everything checked out. When I say EVERYTHING I mean it. I even made sure, for the 5th time, that all my drivers were up to date, made sure that all of my specs were above the recommended to watch in SD(I can easily watch in 1080p but can't even watch SD on CR) and I went to several other websites and watched in 720 without any freezes, skips, or lag at all. I don't get skips or lag on CR either only freezes which seem to never be fixed. Now I don't know what could be causing this, but I know for a fact that this is NOT a problem on my end at all. I have in the last 6 months made several posts about this and each time had another CR member tell me in a rude manner that it was my PC or a CR Admin tell me to go to the help page and run all the tests. I just got done doing this as I said above and I would like some info on what they are doing to fix it. If its due to so many people logging on, or so many people watching a certain video(even though almost every video I go to has this problem in the last week) I could at least be more understanding. I do not however enjoy being left in the dark with no answers besides "See the Video Playback Help page" and its obvious by the tons of new threads and many posts about this same problem by many other users that it is not a small problem. If I don't get a real answer or feel CR is doing anything to fix this I won't be renewing my account when it cancels this month.

It may come to that. There's no reason for this. My guess is that it simply is coming down to bandwidth capacity, which is stupid. A company as large as CrunchyRoll should be using multi-gigabit CDN networks. Help pages call for 4Mbps for 1080p playback. 10GBe, which is 10,000Mbps, would support 2,500 users. Add the fact that you're going to have to place 6-8 servers minimum globally to contradict bandwidth choke-points, as well as lag, and you have a simultaneous-user capacity of 15-20,000. By the time you reach that, you will have the money to buy more servers.

What upsets me the most is CrunchyRoll's customer blaming. We're not stupid. Don't treat us like we are. Fascism is a democracy, we'll vote with our wallet by going elsewhere.

Yeah honestly thats what gets to me the most. Them blaming it on the customers. I really do enjoy this site but in order for me to stay something is going to have to change.

South central manitoba, using mts lightning speed as internet connection, same issue. Tried on 3 different computers, with various specs and connections, they all play 1080 on youtube, funimation, hulu, and anime network, which all work just fine, crunchyroll seems to be the only site that does this for me

This has gone on for a while for me, thought I was the only one.

Please fix your bandwidth issues or you'll be losing a lot of subscribers. I know I'll be going.

Not gonna lie, all it took was a few minutes of searching and it's pretty damn clear people are fed up with CR's service. This happened to me in the past, which is why i chose not to continue my premium membership after my 14 day free trial. I think when this free trial is up, I will be going elsewhere, possibly somewhere with actual customer support. I love the high definition anime available here, I really do, I just also really love to be able to actually watch said anime.

If u do go elsewhere, please don't go to an illegal site such as the one that u mentioned (which was edited out). They don't pay the anime studios anything. There's honestly not a whole lot of legal choices if u live in the U.S., the top 3 in terms of anime selection, I think, are CR, Funi (Hulu), & The Anime Network.

If he is looking for "actual customer support", I highly doubt he would find it at a fansub site, since I don't know of any that even host any videos themselves. The extent of their "support" would be limited to replacing links for videos that were taken down or badly encoded.

I also have to wonder if as large at it is, that Netflix could be included as having "actual customer support". When they had MAR available for streaming, several episodes had the the audio from a previous episode, but weeks after filing a report (and by the reviews, I wasn't the only one to do so), the problem still wasn't corrected, and no feedback was received.

You people really need to get off your high horse, legality? How do you even know a site is legal or isn't, hell i've had people question whether CR is legal or not. As for customer support, I'll take 5 minutes response time over 24 hours response time any day.

It isn't just that it's illegal to use other sites, it's the people who make the anime get no money whatsoever. So what people are trying to say is that by using these other sites, you are not supporting them in making more of their anime. In fact you are hindering them making it harder because they have less money.

Lets say a million people watch a certain anime and 20% of them use these illegal sites, that means the creator loses (or just doesn't get) around Two HUNDRED THOUSAND. Well that is a lot of money and something they could do a lot with.

So it's not just that's it illegal but that you are aren't supporting something you enjoy, which and i don't know you and mean no offense by this shows and makes you look like an extremely selfish and self involved child. Crunchyroll is legal, or they would be taken down because people have to for subscriptions, making it even more illegal than your stealing tv shows sites. It's possible they do things wrong and makes mistakes causing legal issues but i doubt they do it on purpose.

Thanks for posting about your ex-bawks in the PC/Mac/Linux forums. Really helpful.

OT: I understand why some people are thinking about dropping their subscription, but the problem is that it will only make it harder to get quality Anime streaming in the future, unless you actually take your money to another paid service. Please don't use "illegal" sites if you can avoid it!

P.S: Dear CR, please either take the time to seriously look into this issue, or hire someone who can assist you with it. You had it fixed for about 2 weeks and then it started re-occurring.

It isn't really difficult to determine if a site is illegal or not. I could explain it to you, but it seems clear you are not really interested.

I have the same problem. when I am watching on my PC.
It seems like my connection to the CR servers has a long delay.
I currently have 100/100 fiber and live in Sweden, this is the only page I have problems with when it comes to streaming.
I have no problem at all watching in my Lumia 920 phone, works flawless! But on the PC... Geez... It's not worth watching anything here..

And this problem is on all shows on the page.. Kinda sucks!

I recently turned off my premium membership, not primarily due to the lagging, but because Gintama was put on hold/canceled. I am also following Hunter x Hunter, but the constant lagging really hinders the experience. I decided if I have to choose between waiting a week to watch a laggy video, vs. paying $7 to watch the laggy video now... I'll just wait a week.

As others have said, CR is pretty much the only streaming service giving me problems. My service is comparably slow (I get an average of 10Mbps over DSL), but 1080p video is fine anywhere but on CR, where streaming even old-school SD feeds is highly problematic. Between this and the constantly garbled video present on the Android app, I am having to find alternative sources for my anime.

A shame, as until the streaming quality issues became like this, CR was my one-stop shop for 99% of my anime-watching needs.
