A Town Where You like or "Kimi no Iru Machi"... Started watching this one by chance boy am I glad I did!
In two episodes it has delivered in a more satisfying way (for me anyways) than Clannad has in around 30 episodes that I have watched. The plot seems pretty cool and yes, it has only been two episodes but I like plot and the backstories/flashbacks are much more interesting and better told than in Clannad.
I would like to hear what those of you who have watched it too have to say about it.

I think it has potential very good given the amount of episodes it is getting. As such the time constraint will allow it to show the important stuff rather than add in fluff.

Since it is set at that moment of the manga that is where the drama is heaviest.

manga reads such as myself might not like it as much simply because we know what happens, but first timers should have an emotional roller coaster of a ride.

I read the manga and I love it. I have nothing at all to complain about. They stuck to the roots of the manga very well, in my opinion. I am enjoying it.

Interesting... I can't read manga, though sometimes I felt like that was exactly what I was doing when watching Attack on Titan. The animation is not that dissimilar from this though(coincidentally). It is a totally different genre of course.

So, please explain what you meant by "time contraint" and "amount of episodes". I know nothing about this anime but I do like what I've seen so far.

Wait wait wait... Didn't they, like, skip 85780572805720520547205202952752709 manga chapters?????? Or Am I supposed to have seen the OVAs? I know the EXTREME DRAMA is where they started since I'm up to date with the manga... but BEFORE there is A LOT of material to be covered... I've only seen EP 1 and the preview oif ep 2 goes back to the past but... do they plan to do a Berserk and work their way back to ep 1??? Hope they DO animate what happens before he goes to Tokyo... I mean... that's like the whole story.

PS: I think the adaptation is outstanding, btw, I just feel they cannot skip the first part like that.

Right let's see...

As you mentioned a comparison with Clannad (AS). Clannad (AS) had around 47 episodes to develop (of which 2 of them were the other girls) and the 47 were focused on Nagisa, Tomoya, and Ushio. From Animenewsnetwork (ANN) Kimi no iru machi is stated to have 12 episodes, two of which has been used up.

With the 10 remaining episodes is it possible for Kimi no iru machi to make a bigger impact than Clannad (AS)? I am not sure. This is the time constraint I am talking about, given the amount of episodes left the directors and producers has to make it count. Going back to Clannad it has had episodes where it wasn't needed and its entirety would have been just as good (story wise).

AOT on the other hand, lost its momentum because it was a bit too successful. I say this because the manga is readily available and watching the first and second episodes made people read the manga. I'd like to bring up an older anime Code Geass. Code Geass was the AOT (excuse me, AOT is the Code Geass now) back in 2006; however, Code Geass didn't have a manga to follow. In each situation: one needed to wait a whole week for new content, the other a new week brings about the animated series of which I already know the content.

Watching an anime after you've read a manga has a big determent to the excitement each week brings. Now if you do this in reverse, by reading the manga as a follow up you will obtain more past the anime (I'm sure most of you know).

V: I would not say they are squeezing 230 chapters in 12 episodes. The anime is starting at a new arc (manga wise) but this is not abrupt (anime wise), it will (however) end at an abrupt time (manga wise) but it will seem like an ending due to it finishing that arc (anime wise). That is the director/producers job to do that (again how well will they do it? I am not sure).

Now with that said it is very different from AOT. AOT started at chapter 1 when will it end? I don't know, lol.

The thing about the anime is, they are trying to squeeze 230 chapters into a 12 episode anime. Even though the anime starts off at around the 70 chapter mark,
But anyways, I think they are doing a reasonable job of the animation, but being a fan of this series, I am dissappointed at how they turned this anime from Shonen into a Shoujo looking series. The OVA's were much better in my opinion, not too fancy and had humor and they were appealing to the eye. This adaptation is not like the manga, other thanthe plot, the characters appearances' are different slightly, like their faces are sharper in the anime and they have different appearances than the manga. They took a great, Shonen, romance manga and turned it into a showy, romantic Shoujo while draining out all of the comedy. The only reason I'm still keeping up with it is because I am curious how they will fit all of the 160 chapters of material into 12 episodes. It will undoubtebly be rushed from a manga reader's perspective, and will skip a lot of material as well. I predict the anime will branch off and end early on in the manga, much like its predecessor, Suzuka did. (which is by the way an amazing series made in 2005 by the same creator as KnIm, and is the prequel to Kimi no Iru Machi)

They won't animate the Hiroshima arc and everything before the events that have occurred in the anime in anything other than flashbacks, as seen in the second Episode. the reason being they are short on footage and time

Ahhhhhhh ..... I hate it when they adapt manga series half way instead of giving them the proper treatment. The only hope I have is that the blu ray sales are such that they do a second season and animate the hiroshima arc...

I wish they do that, but then again, the anime isn't that popular at the moment, although they have been hyping it for the last 30 chapters in the manga, and they have 10 episodes left to boost popularity to the point where a second season is in consideration. This is very unlikely, but if it gets reasonable sales, the most likely move would be to release a 4 episode OVA series that follows the Hiroshima arc. It's not much to work with, but they can't release a second season that details the whole arc unfortunately.

The storyboard is clever... If you have not read the manga you will think it is some dude going to Tokyo to talk to a girl.

Now I am seriously assuming each and everyone is intelligent enough to assume that this girl has a really strong connection with the guy otherwise he wouldn't be doing this (I hope to god this isn't a spoiler, since everything is a F*ing spoiler these days).

Continuing on... this guy goes to this city to talk to this girl, and amidst all this you see flashbacks of why he is potentially doing all the stuff he is doing.

^ that is pretty clever storyboard and it makes sense.

The way you phrase it for anime only viewers makes it sound like it will fit into its 12 episode span quite nicely.

There is no way they could fit this into 1 season. As I stated in other threads, they will probably go to around chapter 160-170 the most. That's the end of this arc and the beginning of the next pretty much.

What they are trying to accomplish is introduce the issue (they did already) and sprinkle the flashbacks into the anime. This is going to give background to when they first met and why they are the way they are now.
