He's kind of a horrible person, and while the Russian economy has improved during his "Presidency," he's done very little to actually develop Russian infrastructure.. Basically, Putin's Russia is a bullet train heading toward a wall.

Putin is a self-serving thug, but he's clever and charismatic. Fortunately his ambitions seem to end with his own self-indulgence, or he could be a real monster.

Furthermore, are there seriously people calling him awesome? He is a pretty corrupt guy. Russia is a country with a pretty corrupt government. And I know the US government isn't run by a bunch of saints, but if America's government and leaders operated like Russia or China, Americans would flip shit and there'd be protests that turn violent and riots on the streets all across the nation.

Despite how he is criticized by disregarded Western media as being a tyrant or dictator. He has my admiration as the epitome of calculative efficiency, based on his ex-KGB background and that he's managed to stay in a position of political power for more than a decade alternating between acting as president or prime minister. I could care less about his corruption.

I'm sure if you lived in Russia, you would care about it.

That's cool. I'm sure that the Russian people don't mind it, either.

The very same reason that your claim of "...Americans would flip shit and there'd be protests that turn violent and riots on the streets all across the nation.", will not be happening.

I don't like him, and I don't understand how he's been able to consolidate power for such a long time. Alternating between PM and President, after each term should be illegal.

I would say I feel sorry for Russia, but then Russia would get mad at me for feeling as such.
