Hmmm i gotta watch these to get a refresher course on Madoka Magica...u recommend?

Well just finished the first part of the movie and yes, it was basically just a refresher course for me. Part 2 later
Edit: Finished part 2...man it is truly an iconic anime and due to this fact is why i am so strict on this series. i finally remember the reason that i am that way towards Madoka Magica however and that is because everything just felt forced. Still a "masterpiece" and i am looking forward to part 3.

They are a shorter version of the Madoka Magika series you can watch here.

Now, the THIRD movie coming October 26th will be interesting as it is new.

If you have seen the original TV series, there isn't much new to see considering its a recap and the film doesn't add any additional plot twists or changes. However if you're a new fan to the franchise, I would definitely recommend both.

Note: the third movie of the trilogy scheduled to debut eventually in theaters is new material (confirmed to be sequel)

Even though I've seen the original TV series, watching the first movie was still as powerful as when I watched it the first time a year ago. Watching all of the events happening again was just emotionally painful on me. About to start up the second movie. But I'm looking forward to watching Rebellion

If you haven't seen the series yet, I would recommend it. If it's not to your taste, I'll thank you for at least checking it out.

Pretty much :/

There were very few additions although I liked the stronger emotions of the voices as well as the OST. Everything remained pretty much the same. Nice to see all the main characters make their debut though especially since one of the girls with a big appetite got more screen time than I had thought.

I enjoyed both the movies and the series for different reasons. While I firmly believe the series is better than the movies, the movies have the advantage of adjusting the pacing, which some people complain about, and giving you the payoff sooner. The movies also had some nice little additions, but overall, they stayed faithful to the series.

Waiting for the 3rd hoping that its new stuff. Not really interested in watching a recap. Feel like its still to early for me to be rewatching.

All I care about is the third movie - as it's the one with the all new story, rather than recaps with added small scenes.

I heard it's going to get a subtitled theatrical release in the US as well. Wish I lived within driving distance of a theater that'd consider showing it, Rebellion on a big screen would probably be crazily amazing.

I don't know about the bigger cities, but here, for the first two movies, they were shown using a digital projection system driven from blu-rays. Our theater was on the small side, so it worked well. I have no idea if other locations got film, though I have my doubts.
