It's difficult to please everyone in most cases. Some company will do, or not do, something to appease anime fans. To these companies, it's about the money. If there's people eating up what they're shoveling out then that is what they continue to chase after. Once that money pit dries up, out goes the license and the anime show(s).

As to the site update/redesign. They promised it last summer too. Until proven otherwise, I'm just staying away until they actually fix it.

Yeah I am about to jump ship. I can buy those shows I want after seeing them on hulu most of the time. The monthly fee is not worth it if I can't watch dub 720 show they have.

I don't think that Funimation employs a single programmer, they actually seem kind of resistant to it for some reason. They've been at the game for two years now and there hasn't been a single improvement in their service. So I have a lot of doubts that this site update that they've been mentioning any chance they can get to quell the complaints will actually do anything. I seriously think it's mostly a stop gap measure to keep customers from leaving right now.

After this summer is over and they've thrown some minor patch on the site to save face, it'll probably be something else.

Wow really :O
They're one of the legal streaming sites, and they can't deliver something good :O

FUNI should really just stop with the streaming and give their anime streaming licenses to CR.
Then they should just continue with their dvd/bluray releasing.

Seeing as FUNI is trying to fight pirating of anime, they really should either step up their streaming game or drop it completely.

Yeah, Funi's site does suck. I got nothing to add there.

As for them always using the same 10 or so voice actors; at least they're good voice actors. It could be so much worse.

Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=R7-TYkqRIqs&t=3127

Let's never go back to that again, please

I know we may complain, but the fact that they cast the same people for every rol doesn't bother or affect them in the slightest. As long as they dub an anime well enough for companies to invest in their product, it won't matter to them how they get it done.

Yeah I do wish that they would cast more people for dubs. And the people they do cast I would love if they had better ranges as voice actors. It's weird and off putting to continuously hear the same voices for random characters in different anime series.

That's not even purely a Funimation concern either. I my life I haven't heard a dub yet that is really exquisite. There's always at least one character whose voice sounds too old, too young, or too annoying which can make the anime grating on the ears.

I would watch way more dubs if they were only...better. But oh well. I'm learning a little Japanese this way.

Having heard many fandubs, it's a shame that many of the good people that do them haven't been hired or even discovered. One of them is my g/f who's in a few herself.

Their great at dubbing. But they suck at business and put absurd prices for their animu so I never buy.

Their prices are reasonable when compared to others.

Funi does bring in alot of new talent, but alot of that new talent isnt as consistent as some of the other voices your hear more often. Alot of the actors you hear over and over again are there not because they have a big name in the industry but because they work hard to prove why they should be given more lead roles. For example if someone can do a voice that fits the character and can do it well in less time than someone who sounds good as well but lacks the experience to accomplish the task as quick, the casting will always choose the actor who can do it more efficiently. Time>Quality sadly. Just the way it rolls. That's why we hear alot of the same actors, because they are good at geting their job done and making it sound pretty darn good. I agree it would be nice to hear some fresh voices more often but overall when it comes to dubs there really isnt a better company at producing them at this moment in time.

If you think Funimation does absurd pricing, I hope you never look at the price tag of an Aniplex show.
It might give you a heart attack.

Man do I love Funimation. Anyone complaining about price is crazy if they think it is high. Have any of you guys seen Aniplex pricing? Go look at the Sword Art Online Blu-Ray... It is going to cost around 320$ for all the episodes. The DVD is still going to cost like 150$ I believe? Funimation usually has relatively low prices including their S.A.V.E sets which are super cheap as well.

My biggest complaint just like most the people in this thread is their damned website. I used the 10 day trial or whatever it was to check it out. All the back-catalogs they have make it so worth it to drop in like 7 or 8 dollars a month to watch all those in HD / no ads. I wanted to do it so bad, but random videos wouldn't load past 1 minute and a huge buffering problem.
