The biggest problem right now is that Google has not finalized the SDK. Even if CR had an app ready to go, they couldn't release it.

From https://developers.google.com/cast/downloads/:

Warning: The current Google Cast SDK is a preview SDK intended for development and testing purposes only, not for production apps. Google may change this SDK significantly prior to the official release of the Google Cast SDK. We strongly recommend that you do not publicly distribute any application using this preview SDK, as this preview SDK will no longer be supported after the official SDK is released (which will cause applications based only on the preview SDK to break).

Applications using this preview SDK will work only on Chromecast receiver devices that are whitelisted for development. Google will provide whitelisting for Google Cast receivers for development and testing purposes until the final SDK is released. See Whitelisting your receiver.

In other words, even if CR had a Chromecast enabled able app ready at this moment, they couldn't release it. Given CR's limited resources (e.g., only one Android developer), I wouldn't be surprised if they are waiting until an app could actually be release to spend any serious development time on one.

Frankly, probably the only reason Chromecast has Netflix (currently the only third party app) is because if Chromecast had only included Google services, it wouldn't have sold nearly as well. It would be interesting to know if Netflix is was given some special low-level (below API access) to the device, was provided with special unchanging API calls, or is being compensated in some way by Google (possibly by Google funding those 3 month coupons) for keeping the app updated as necessary until the SDK is finalized.

I am very interested in buying it too, I'd love if CrunchyRoll added support.

Hopefully we will get a better idea of when it could be released after the next couple of days:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/21/google-chromecast-sdk-hackathon-app/

Hopefully, Google will announce an actual release date for the SDK at this event. The lack of the final SDK has been the holdup for many of the apps from smaller companies that were not large enough to warrant a special exception from Google.

Only reason I have a Hulu Plus membership and not a CR membership is because CR doesn't have chromecast support.
So +1 support

- Google Opens Chromecast To All Developers
- http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/03/google-opens-chromecast-to-all-developers/

When Google launched its Chromecast HDMI dongle, it only allowed a small set of developers to create applications for it. The company always promised, though, that it would soon open the platform up to all developers. Today, it is doing just that.

Developers can now download the Google Cast Software Development Kit and build Chromecast support right into their apps and website. The company says integrating the SDK is “simple.” Developers do have to pay a $5 registration fee, though, which gives them access to the Google Cast SDK Developer Console so they can register their apps and authorize devices for testing.
