PS3 App causing severe crash.

Can't watch anything.

Open app, find show I want to watch, click (X) button to watch, black screen, PS3 beeps, Have to hard reset.

Any assistance? This has been going on for 2-3 days now, can watch fine on tablet/phone but on PS3 it just bricks!
Netflix works fine, everything else works fine. Why can't this work!!!?

Sometimes that happens...but it's not supposed to be that often. >_<'' (Well, it's not supposed to happen at all, but...you get the picture.)

Sometimes deleting the Crunchyroll app from your PS3 and then redownloading/reinstalling it helps. Which model of the PS3 do you have?

It also doesnt save the progress of the anime you've watched. If you scroll "too fast" (L2 or R2) the app crashes.

I have the exact same problem, and I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app more times than I can count and it consistently freezes after even just clicking the "Main Menu" button. Once the Crunchyroll App freezes, I have to completely unplug it as the PS3 is completely unresponsive after this freeze happens.

I'm really going to have to give up on the PS3 app for now, I've spent two days trying to figure it out to no avail and those hard resets cannot be good for my PS3.

You shouldn't have to unplug it when your PS3 becomes unresponsive. You can manually press the power button on the console and it should shut itself off after a minute or so. Every time I end up with a black screen and my controller becomes unresponsive using this app, I have always had success turning it off by just pressing the power button on the console. It's probably still not great for the PS3, but it's gotta be better than just pulling the plug!

Edit: Also, you can usually avoid crashing by finding what you want in advance and putting it first in your queue via the computer. If you're saying scrolling through the episodes is a problem, try starting up the episode you want on the computer to "mark the current location," then switch to the console. My console usually marks my progress, but sometimes I have to trick it first. Doing this ought to make it already highlighted when you start up the app and you ought to be able to have a one-press start-up, which should avoid crashing. I know, it's not ideal, but I'd rather do this than give up watching anime on my HDTV!

Been experiencing this for a while. The band-aid (http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-807291/whats-going-on-with-playstation) sometimes helps but not always. This has been going on for months.

Yeah, unfortunately the Power Button becomes completely unresponsive too. I've tried pressing it, and waiting 10 minutes without anything happening. I've also tried just holding down the button for an inordinate amount of time without any success. While this PS3 isn't brand new, it's only 3 months old, so the console's age shouldn't be causing any issues.

Also, the App now freezes right when I open it. I sometimes see the logo upon starting the app, sometimes I don't see it. But then it's just the gray blank screen. If I uninstall the App and then re-download it from the PSN Store then I can get the App past the logo, but it usually freezes once I attempt to switch to any other screen except the main screen. It freezes by either moving the control stick to navigate, or by pressing the button to get to the Main Menu(I think it's the triangle button, but it's been so long since I've seen it, I can't remember).

It really seems like the Crunchyroll App on my PS3 needs its cache cleared or something, it's like there's some external hidden file that is still saved even after deleting the App from my PS3's hard drive that is causing it to get stuck in an infinite loop or something like that.

Anyway, there shouldn't be this many hoops to jump through to just use a simple Streaming App. It's very frustrating to say the least, especially since I had just bought a month of Premium Membership and now it feels like it's getting wasted. :-/

I read on these forums that the crash sometimes happens when you scroll to a show in your queue that it has cached a bad picture file for. The fix is to delete it from your queue, open the app, then add it back and the next time the app looks for it, it will repopulate the picture file. Try deleting that first show in your queue just to make sure? That's the only other thing I can think of that might be something you can fix on your side...

I'm sooo tired of it. I select the app it loads up with the grey crunchyroll screen and then black screen. I have to reset the ps3 for me to be able to do anything else. I even tried deleting the app and reinstalling. Same thing... I don't even get to see the shows. Nothing.

I know that feel Uikutoria, I've tried everything on that Whats going on with playstation "Fix" forum, But to no avail. I still get the same results, Load up crunchyroll, get the grey crunchyroll loading screen, then black, and have to restart my ps3, I've reinstalled i don't know how many times. They need to put out an update for this, I'm getting severely pissed off, i WAS going to buy a membership starting this month but screw that now, can't even get the app to work, i won't until they fix this stupid problem -.-.

Should this app have been beta tested for free before they were offering a premium service for it.

I am sure there is something in the trades description act about function of a service.

I get the same problem as everyone and I've deleted it and put it back. And nothing seems to work.
Does there need to be an update or something?
I don't know if its the same process as on a cell, but there's updates for that all the time but nothing for ps3.

We're working on a new patch for the app.
In the mean time, can you check the stickied thread to see if the issues you're encountering are similar to any of the noted issues there?
