I have a subscription to Crunchyroll, and I don't have any problems using my Chromecast from my Nexus 5 with the Crunchyroll app. Sometimes I stream from my laptop to Chromecast using the Chrome browser, too.

I have chromecast working and don't have any major loading issues, however I do have the same problems as some others here have already posted: I get advertisements while I have a paid account. I don't get the ads when i just play the same video's on my mobile device. I have these issues when playing from both tablet AND mobile phone, so it is app related and it is not the hardware.

I the last 2 day the buffer issue got worse for me. I can't manage to watch anything using chromecast.
If your actual team can't handle to develop a good stream app or how to encoding a video for stream hire someone who can, for god sake. You can't ignore this issue forever.

I have a similar problem where it just buffers for ages, then only plays a few seconds...

I wonder if there is a way to just cast the entire tab...

Click on the Google Cast Extension, look for the options, change to "Cast this tab".
This is what I do when I can't use de normal cast functions.

Can someone help me with this? The Chromecast icon shows up on my Galaxy S4 phone, but not on my Galaxy Note Pro tablet. (Won't show from Viki app either.) Am I doing something wrong?

Is your device screen forced to stay on when you cast to the TV?
Say I have an episode playing on my phone and I cast to the TV, is it also still playing on my device or is it set to a static screen?
What device sends the highest quality video for crunchyroll?

Just a few questions I had about Chromecast.

Pointless, the quality is awful.

Until the CR app supports HD resolutions Chromecast support is a waste of time unless you like watching your favourite shows in SD resolution on your TV's.

The funny thing is they added Chromecast support reatively quickly yet we have been waiting for over a year for HD support in Android.

Screw you CR.

If the CR app behaves like most other Chromecast apps, you could close the app or even shut the device off and it would continue to play (you simply would have no controls). That's they way it worked for me with the YouTube app when I originally received my Chromecast.

A lot of people get confused because Chromecast can work both ways: Streaming from a device to Chromecast (tab casting if you are using a computer, or via some apps that stream local content), and streaming direct to the Chromecast with the device only acting as a remote (the normal method for apps that stream internet-based content).

The video quality you see on the Chromecast should be the same regardless of what device you are using. Keep in mind that when using a cast-enabled internet app, it isn't mirroring the device's stream to the Chromecast, it is sending the Chromecast a URL for its matching stream for that episode and timecode to start playing at.

Thanks for the good explanation on this TAO

I think I might just get this instead of a Roku box or stick.

Was about to post with my buffering issue but it looks like others are having the same problem.

When I open a video and hit the cast button and then click play on chromecast on the video I get buffering forever but when I hit cast this tab it works absolutely fine. This is normal at the moment from what I'm seeing? Same story from my phone, when I'm on the CR app and hit cast it just buffers. No playback at all.

I'll try out Chromecast for now but may just consider hooking up a long HDMI cable to my TV permanently and just plugging it into my laptop when I want to watch on the TV. Seems like I'll get better playback that way without all the messing with connecting to Chromecast.
