*SPOILERS* Guilty Crown Ending - I'm calling BULLCRAP.
Posted 7/27/13
So I just finished Guilty Crown and until the final episode I was LOVING the show. The music, the animation, the action, the characters, everything. And then the ending came along and pulled out about a million plot points straight out of the creators asses. It didn't ruin the show for me in a major way, I still love the show, but come on. Every two minutes I was going "wait..what?" "how is she?...." "what is happening?" "What just happened?" "how is that possible?". Not only that, but so many things are never explained that don't make sense to me (at least I didn't find an explanation).

Examples:
1. Why did Inori's tear turn into a flower? Never explained

2. How did this flower magically allow Shu to get Inori's void, shutdown all the robots, allow Tsugumi to finish hacking, and take down Gai in a matter of ten seconds? Never explained

3. If Shu was able to give everyone back their voids from the beginning, why was he so worried about taking their voids to fight Gai? He could have given them back at any point, evidently shown by the last episode.

4. How did Inori come back into Mana and how did she regain her memories of Shu? Never explained.

5.Gai at one point in the final episode said "I would not have minded you becoming Adam if you stayed the old you, but now you are worthless." something along those lines. But then, literally five minutes later after he gets beaten by Shu, he says "Shu, stay exactly the way you are right now". Why the sudden change?

6. How the hell did Shu escape the tower? Never explained.

7. Haruka said that if Shu took the Void Genom a second time, it would kill him, so why didn't it?

8. How did the cancer that he took from people go away? And since that went away, why didn't his right arm disappear also?

9. Why does Inori's singing/ songs get rid of the virus or at least keep it at bay? And if that is the case, why doesn't she just sing to everyone who has the virus and cure them?

10. This can be attributed to the Void Genom I suppose, but how is Shu able to run up buildings and fall huge distances, slam into the ground and not have a scratch on him?

11. How the hell was Gai resurrected? In the final episode, they do a flashback of when he died and you see him literally disintegrate along with Mana.

12. Why does the Void Genom power only manifest to the right arm?

13. Funeral power destroyed both Lecocytes (however you say it; the giant laser destructo thingies) back near the beginning of the series, so where did Gai get the new one that blew up the U.N fleet?

I'm sure there is more, but those were some things that I noticed during the final episode. Anybody else have the same experience? Can anyone give answers to these points? What was your experience with the ending? Is there any other poor plot points that I missed?

All f those questions are still a mystery to me. I Also recently finished Guilty Crown and i did not like the ending because of all the holes in it and especially because i never like it when in a romance anime in the end they still aren't together. I loved the entire series as a whole but with the ending it just didn't make sense especially how Gai suddenly changes sides and is completely resurrected, i was under the impression he was under mind control. It was an awesome show but i wish the ending was a bit more complete

I disliked the ending too. The anime itself was amazing tbh. I would really like it if someone answered OP's questions

I see you've watched an anime; where the plot-holes are bigger than the breasts.

Not only that, but so many things are never explained that don't make sense to me (at least I didn't find an explanation).

Examples:
1. Why did Inori's tear turn into a flower? Never explained
i guess becasue it was a aprt of her

2. How did this flower magically allow Shu to get Inori's void, shutdown all the robots, allow Tsugumi to finish hacking, and take down Gai in a matter of ten seconds? Never explained a gain because it is a part of her

3. If Shu was able to give everyone back their voids from the beginning, why was he so worried about taking their voids to fight Gai? He could have given them back at any point, evidently shown by the last episode.
it wasnt the fact that he could give them back it was if he died while he had them the others would die aswell

4. How did Inori come back into Mana and how did she regain her memories of Shu? Never explained.
her consciousness was still there jsut like manas was

5.Gai at one point in the final episode said "I would not have minded you becoming Adam if you stayed the old you, but now you are worthless." something along those lines. But then, literally five minutes later after he gets beaten by Shu, he says "Shu, stay exactly the way you are right now". Why the sudden change?
i dont recall him calling him worthless but even if he did after the fight he could have seen the error of what he was thinking at the time

6. How the hell did Shu escape the tower? Never explained.
cuz hes boss

7. Haruka said that if Shu took the Void Genom a second time, it would kill him, so why didn't it?
she didnt say it WOULD kill him she said it COULD

8. How did the cancer that he took from people go away? And since that went away, why didn't his right arm disappear also?
it going away could have something to do with him having the void genom his right arm did disappear he has a fake arm in the end

9. Why does Inori's singing/ songs get rid of the virus or at least keep it at bay? And if that is the case, why doesn't she just sing to everyone who has the virus and cure them?

thats because of void resonance its what shus father was studying basically jsut something that could keep it from spreading while mana had a ressonance that could make it spread

10. This can be attributed to the Void Genom I suppose, but how is Shu able to run up buildings and fall huge distances, slam into the ground and not have a scratch on him?
did you see those "magic circles he makes? its those kinda like the way dante in dmc does his double jumps and shit just another part of the void powers

11. How the hell was Gai resurrected? In the final episode, they do a flashback of when he died and you see him literally disintegrate along with Mana.
no idea aobut this one exactly but they where able to make clones of mana so prob jsut took what was left of him

12. Why does the Void Genom power only manifest to the right arm?
it doesnt that specific genom was gods right arm

13. Funeral power destroyed both Lecocytes (however you say it; the giant laser destructo thingies) back near the beginning of the series, so where did Gai get the new one that blew up the U.N fleet?
there where more than 2

I'm sure there is more, but those were some things that I noticed during the final episode. Anybody else have the same experience? Can anyone give answers to these points? What was your experience with the ending? Is there any other poor plot points that I missed?

there you go mostly answered of course some is jsut speculation i guess
also i personally thought the ending was amazing even if it was sad

and the reason why gai was "jumping sides" was because his only goal was to save mana so really he was jsut going with what ever he could to help her

Before I watched Code Geass I thought Guilty Crown was an absolutely epic anime with a great plot, great characters and AMAZING music and animation. While I will still vouch for the music and animation, I just cant look at the plot of Guilty Crown the same way anymore. Plot wise it is just a poorly executed copy of Code Geass. And honestly I really hated Shu, especially when he became a tyrant dictator at the school, I mean I understand that at times people need to make tough decisions like he did but overall I just feel it was poorly executed and I just ended up hating Shu more. I mean take Lelouch for example, he did some pretty terrible things but I never once hated him throughout the series. Lelouch fought for something bigger and he remained the villain to the very end because someone had to be where as Shu just fought for his lust for Inori... But thats just my opinion anyway

And yeah, I agree, the ending was very empty and left a ton of questions unanswered. It does not even compare to the epic ending Code Geass had (Clearly not obsessed with Code Geass )

1. Not sure either but does it really matter? I think you're over thinking it.

2. When does this happen? I guess I missed that

3. because if it gets destroyed they die?

4. Inori was always there. She just didn't have control of the body anymore.

5. Because Shu had changed and Gai knew the only way to get him back to the way he was when he was as a kid was to force him into it. Then at the end Gai saw Shu being how he used to be and asked him to stay that way.

6. Not sure either but hey maybe Inori saved him somehow? Dunno.

7. I don't think she meant LITERALLY die if he took it. But the chances of him dying where probably really high or he would get infect and die. But of course it's Shu the MC that wouldn't happen to him.

8. He took the cancer from everyone and made it his own burden. If you're talking about the very end that's a robotic arm.

9. I think they made a song specially for that and it was like the trump card to fix everything. And I'm pretty sure it had to do with the sound the song gave. but if you remember the Tower was destroyed and so that really ruined their plans. I'm sure if they had time to do so maybe they could have gone and healed people one by one but again that would take lots of time.

10. Yeah I think it was due to the Void Genom. Not sure myself

11. It just goes to show how scary Daath is. I don't think much about them but they go more into detail in the game I think? Also I haven't check out the OVA which might explain a bit more. Idk

12. I think you're over thinking that. I can't give you an answer but if they explain it would it have really mattered? Waste of time if you ask me.

13. Hm.. not sure I guess I should go back and rewatch it.
