The only time I get scared is on a highway with around 6-8 lanes on both sides and its cluttered with cars everywhere. Usually 75-90 mph and lots of road ragers with people sometimes jumping in and out of the carpool lane cause they are just jerks. While driving through Atlanta GA particularly on interstate 285 at night on a Saturday it was like running the fking gauntlet. Seriously don't know how those people do it everyday cause once was enough to make me get off that road and detour. Never again. Never.

I don't get it. It's just driving a car. There's just a little more to watch in heavy traffic than in the suburbs. I do get a little freaked out when there are dangerous conditions like icy roads along with heavy traffic, but that's not unreasonable. I know I won't be crashing, but I have no faith in the drivers sharing the road with me.

If you don't live in the big city don't sweat it; but those, like myself, that live in the city get a lot of practice in the city environment; commuting to work and what not...

i can drive the city.. but when i first started to drive i was so scared and thought i was going to crash i had sensors and everything but eventually my driving confidencce and skills increased and driving in the city became a breeze.. though in a lot of places it can get hectic with traffic and pot holes... i would prefer to have a personal driver rather than me driving... why dont you try driving a motorcycle?? they look easy to operate as long as you maintain a steady speed and balance!

I have been considering motorcycles for a while.
Easier to maneuver and doesn't use much fuel.
Problem is, I don't have money to buy one

Motorcycles are really dangerous, especially in the city. I had a friend in high school, she was killed by some dude on a crotch rocket. The dude was going over 130mph and smacked into the side of the car she was in, the car exploded, and sent her bf's mom out the window. Sport bikes aren't for city use anyway, apparently my friend says they'll overheat if you don't go fast, but if you're going to get a motorcycle go for a harley or a similar type of bike, the louder the pipes the more likely people will notice you coming down the street, but even then it's dangerous. Motorcycles don't get into accidents they get into wrecks, so if you do always wear your jacket and helmet. There was another wreck a couple months ago, some dude was on his Harley and was turning onto an overpass and a semi hit him and knocked him into the rail and sent him over the edge into the interstate and he got ran over a couple of times. To be honest, I don't think I'd ever buy a motorcycle, no matter how bad the gas prices get.

No, I tend to get this urge to run people over, or drive over construction cones.

I don't enjoy driving, but I find the trick to driving in an unfamiliar and crowded city is to get behind other cars and follow their lead! Once you get in front, you risk missing that obscure "no right on red" sign that everybody but you knows about. Worked in Japan for 3 years right out of high school, and when I came back I was so nervous about driving because I'd gotten completely used to the wrong side of the road :3

It's not too bad. You just gotta work yourself up from small towns to bigger ones, than cities, suburbs of large cities, the large cities and so on. Just don't go from driving on a farm to driving in a city w/a population of over 500,000. You just might be in a bit of a pickle then.
