Freedom of speech is a two faced b*tch, ain't it? Anyway I wouldn't worry too much about the kids, my parents were racist and that had an opposite effect on my sisters & I. We each married someone of a different race (3 different races). My parents had a cow when I married outside of my race to an Asian, and so did his mom (she threw a fit) who was hoping he'd marry a "nice Asian girl".

Unfortunately racism exists everywhere for all races and in some cases it is more extreme than others. In this case a lot of it is attention seeking more than anything else. Like with any offensive t shirt people wear it to get a reaction and who knows maybe he really wanted people to know he is a US Marine. There is a good chance he isn't one but i have known many in the past and they have a love for stupid t shirts with stuff like this and silly crap like "death before dishonor" etc. And when you have fought a war for many years it can do funny things to your mindset.

On the bright side, all controversies over Gitmo aside we haven't quite repeated this yet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment

So at least the general population has improved.

I like how this part:
"Why do you think people wear stuff like this in public? "
is followed by this part:
"And if you agree with them, nobody here wants or cares about your racist ignorant opinion."

What makes you think they were marines?

And nor have the Japanese repeating the massacres and mass rapes they committed all over the asian world in the name of being the superior race. We have come a long way since World War II i agree. I hope we are not going to ever go back to massacres and prison camps that would be horrible.

WOW LOL, bogus as fuck. I would hope that they were joking XD But honestly, what can you do about it? Just keep telling yourself, they're probably just extremely ignorant.

First thing I'd be curious about is why would someone want to live in a country where they don't like the president and have an obvious racist disdain towards other races (in this case, people from the Middle East).

But this is also a great example of what white trash looks, and behaves, like. People like that don't belong anywhere on Earth.

Are the depicted individuals such bad people?

Many who are in the position of expressing hate towards another group do so based on the views of others. Many of them likely have no real life exposure to the group they hate. If these people were to actually interact with better examples from the group they despise, one might find their ignorance being whisked away by enlightenment.

So I find it hard to place blame so quickly. Maybe talking to them could reveal that they're not so bad. Maybe the shirt was a joke aimed at islamic extremists. Maybe I'm defending them too much, but the thing is, we're ignorant of the truth.

Besides, generalization towards any group is a fantastic display of ignorance.

To be fair to the guy, if he's in the marines putting his life on the line for us, I'd say he has the right to be as racist and ignorant as he wants, regardless of whether it's valid or not. And at the same time, he also has the right to suffer the consequences if an Arab person walks by and is offended.

The wife's shirt on the other hand was political, so I'm not going to touch it with a 20 foot pole. Or any pole for that matter.

Don't agree with the shirts, but had to put it out there anyways.

Has nothing to do with being a marine. Anybody in the US has a right to their beliefs, even if they are racist and ignorant. Being a marine doesn't make him or anyone else special. I don't like the message on those shirts. If this white trash were a marine in war against the Talibans or any other enemy, I am pulling for his adversary to win.

You are right about everyone having a right to their beliefs, however I don't like your comment about the marines. Until you go out and risk your life everyday, I don't believe you (or I) have any right to criticize that. When you are living in constant fear of death and are forced to discriminate by that standard to find potential terrorists, it's understandable he'd become like that, not to say that it's right.

And I would never choose to want a terrorist to live over a marine, even if the marine was completely despicable. At least the marine is protecting people, not killing innocent ones.

People have opinions. It's perfectly fine with me!

..you know what. I SUPPORT THEM. At least they have opinions.

Honestly. Just be mature and move on. Don't complain about it.
