Given that I haven't seen any complaints about the OUYA app yet, I would take that as a good sign. If the next version of the Google TV app (apparently up next) is similarly blessed, the new version of the general Android app will no doubt be worth the wait.

The text is too small for a proper 10-foot interface, but it behaves well, at least. Compared to some of the other apps, that's not much to complain about.

On the off chance the dev is reading this forum, here's what I'd like to see next (that's under the control of the app - the HD video thing probably depends on server-side stuff).

These are all for the Queue screen:
* How long until the next episode gets posted on shows where the most recent episode has been watched
* How much of an episode you've watched so far when you stopped in the middle of an episode (this would be the orange/gray bar that's under the thumbnail on the web version)
* The ability to rearrange the stuff in the queue by dragging them around

Those three items would get the Queue screen to feature-parity with the web version.

The orange/gray bar for how much of an episode you've watched would be useful on the Videos sub-page as well when you go into a series. Would make it easy to see at a glance which episodes you've watched and which you haven't.

The latest version of the crunchyroll app version 9.0 does not play videos in landscape mode. It only plays in portrait mode unless you turn on auto rotation on your tablet. I am using the Nexus 7 tablet the 2012 version running KitKat Android 4.4.

Correction I have an older tablet and it also plays videos in portrait mode, unless you turn on auto rotation. It is running android 4.0.4.

Came here to post just this. If we can't auto-rotate videos there should at least be an option for portrait or land-scape. Do people actually watch videos in portrait mode?

But you can auto-rotate it. It follows your OS rotation setting now like Android apps are supposed to instead of forcing the rotation. If you turn on rotation in your system settings, it'll rotate. Most devices have this in the quick-access settings in the notification bar.

You're telling me something I already know. I don't enjoy auto-rotate on my phone unless I'm watching videos. It's a minor annoyance having to constantly check and uncheck auto-rotate on my phone settings every time I start up the Crunchyroll app. Other video apps have portrait/landscape settings that remedy this issue.

I agree with trmjkd989. I pretty much keep my auto rotation locked. If there was a setting in the app that would let you set the landscape instead of constantly having to turn the tablet setting on and off, it would be much better. This version also does portrait viewing on phones too! That's pretty annoying.

I leave the crunchyroll app for 1 week and now im forced to hold my phone in a certain manner just so i can get back my landscape veiwing..... im on a galaxy note and having a 4" screen and the app now not letting me watch in landscape unless im holding it a certain way ticks me off. I cant watch videos in my bed anymore, resting on my side or lounging in a chair. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE OLD VERSION??

All you need is a timer for next ep like on the webpage and ability to order your queued videos and it would have been perfect. Now it needs an option to lock landscape in settings please ASAP!

Probably why I didn't see it as a hassle - I use my device in different orientations at different times, and having it rotate how I put it is useful. When I'm laying in bed, and want it in landscape mode even though the phone is (according to gravity) is in portrait mode, I consider that a special situation and go hit the rotate lock in the notification bar.

There's merit to both ways, so I guess a preference in the app settings to force landscape mode when doing video playback would be the way to go.

One other bug that hasn't been fixed yet with the Android app is that it doesn't accurately update in your queue when you've completed watching an episode. After completing an episode (all the way to the end) It shows up in your queue that you stopped watching it somewhere between half and 2/3rds of the way through, so if you pick it again, you start from the middle of that episode again instead of going to the next one.

Since we just got a new version of the Android app again with "bugfixes" (I notice the playback is rotation locked in landscape again) just posting to say the one I'm quoting above still isn't fixed. I watched Kill la Kill and Galilei Donna on my phone with the new version that just came out, and watched both all the way to the end, and my queue on the website thinks I left off at 945 and 1199 seconds instead of finishing them.

So I just watched 4 shows this afternoon using the Android app again, and all four of them updated correctly in my queue this time. Intriguing...
