It makes me happy and things that make me happy mean a lot to me, because they make me happy. So in conclusion, anime means a lot to me because it makes me happy.

My best friends were all because of anime. To say it's important to me would be an understatement.

Anime has been a trustworthy friend that has helped me get through rough points in my life like high school. Anime helps me to keep my sanity. It's an expensive hobby to be sure, but I don't know how I ever lived without it. I don't care if my family thinks I'm weird!

I see it as just another hobby of mine, just like reading or listening to music is. I really love it (I wouldn't be here on anime forum if I wasn't into it) but I'm not too obsessed about it.

So I would say anime means a lot to me, but my obsession with it is pretty healthy.

The only unhealthy obsession I have right now is with Christina Aguilera. I type her name into google for every second of my life hoping for some new articles about her, hoping for a red carpet appearance, dying to hear new live performances or music, hoping for an interview.

Her life matters more to me than my own. I even know which night she goes out to eat at Osteria Mozza. *Stalker face*

Anime is a substitute for life. The real world sucks, and things don't make sense. People are terrible, and more bad things happen than good. I ask myself if life is even worth living on a daily basis, because I just haven't been able to see good in the world. From people around me stepping over others for their own gain, to the endless horrors you see on the news. But I can turn all that off and focus my thoughts on an anime story. Sure plenty of bad stuff happens there too, depending on the genre, but you get to see the kind of human interaction that should happen in real life, but for whatever reason doesn't. Because people suck.

I don't know. It means a lot though. I watch anime for the reason of seeing different plots and such since TV these days are crap (American TV anyway). But it means a lot more to me than that. For instance, some animes I've watched even made me want to improve my life or change it in some way. Dunno what I'd do without it!

I'm curious, how much does anime mean to you. Me personally, anime is my life. I enjoy watching anime to the fullest and pretend im actually in the anime. Pretty low but i enjoy it better than anything.

Anime kingdom.
When we die i believe we will be reincarnated into our favorite anime.

wow i really love your idea. It's something i think about all the time, I have no friends and my family is kinda just messed up, so anime is like everything to me. I feel like when I die I will be created into my own badass anime, the way I want it to be, and if people discovered my story they would love it but who knows. I think when you die you become what you want or go to where you want to go, but thats my personal opinion
Being a hero in Gurren Lagann, or dragon ball or being above both of those would be cool, I think theres many possibilities.

I like it because it gives me a little more insight into what Japan is like.

I swear Japan gets all the good stuff. Except for Natural disasters.

Anime is another entertainment medium for much, like live action content. Movies and Television deserve to have all formats of entertainment be accepted by the mainstream and, in my honest opinion, many legitimately good anime shows are shut down by assumptions of the masses. Because it is too unfamiliar, they assume it's trash. This happened with numerous genres of TV shows, from Grey's Anatomy and it's prime time soap opera push to Game of Thrones and it's high budget fantasy production, I could spend all damn day listing how many things have been given a chance and resulted in good content being consumed by the masses.

But as long as people remain to be a bunch of close minded idiots who aren't willing to 'give things a chance' and 'try something new', we suffer stagnation here in the states and around the world, crippling an entertainment industry that could be thriving were it accepted as it should be. It may lead to crap being produced, but for every 5 or 6 mediocre/god awful anime productions we'd get, there would easily be 2 or 3 shows to make up for the poorer productions. It happens on TV all the time and honestly, I can't imagine the budgets between shitty american sitcoms and anime are DRASTICALLY different and if they 'are', I imagine that the animation isn't as expensive to produce.

Anime is important to me because it's a video based medium where suspension of disbelief (or lack thereof) leads to some of the most entertaining television and movies I have ever seen. If it disappeared, I'd probably be missing out on many stories and ideas I'd otherwise never see, like CROWDS and it's approach to social networking and its effect on society... Or over the top, 'NO BRAKES ON THIS TRAIn' shows like Valvrave.

I grew up on anime. I'd say it has a pretty important impact on my life. There are a BUNCH of good life lessons that anime gives us, that regular american cartoons do not. While watching anime as a kid, I was entertained and learned life values at the same time.... nowdays kid's don't learn sh*t from cartoons unless its friggin Dora the explorer...
That being said, I enjoy anime, and would much rather watch anime over some of those ridiculous reality tv crap that's on nowdays (that most people my agegroup/my friends watch). I can grow old, but the kid inside of me won't ever fade away!

It also gave me a wild imagination. Though i'm older now, and my siblings all have these realistic dreams, my dreams are still always adventurous and in random lands. Honestly, the sparks of creativity I have now would not have been here if I didn't grow up watching Anime
