If the genders of the character from your favorite anime switched do you believe you will like it as much as you do now?

hell would break loose in the harem genre

(In response to the OP) it wouldn't change my opinion of a certain anime, the protagonist's gender was ambiguous to begin with, and for the most part was irrelevant to me until mid-way through.

It would bring a whole new meaning to the Harem genre although I'm pretty sure Harem with gender-swaps just turns the show into your typical glorified dark-themed hentai.

In regards to the threads topic though I'd have to say a Female Vash the Stampede with all personality traits in tact would be incredibly hilarious, especially if everything else is kept the same.

I have a hard time picking my favourite anime, but the one I came into this thread thinking about was TTGL.

Kamina and Simon as sexy lascivious hot blooded mecha women, with Yoko as a cool bishounen and Leeron as the outspoken yuri mechanic sounds like a plot made in heaven. Or would Leeron be one of them yaoi obsessed girls instead? Who knows.

Trying to imagine lordgenome as a girl though? That gives me chills. Maybe he'd be the cool boss woman type though. It could be fun... Oh! And Viral! How can I forget about Viral lol.

Yes, I'd watch this version of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann too.

Most of my favorite characters are male.
And if they changed to female, I wouldn't like them as much.

No, my favorite animes pretty much require that those characters be those genders. If I would have to choose one that I could possible tolerate though I would say Busou Renkin, I think I could still like the story with Kazuki as a girl and Tokiko as a guy. Code Geass, Death Note, Trigun, FMA, those I definitely could not tolerate with genders reversed.

Monogatari series: Nope. Monogatari's got an awesome surreal style and good plots, but fanservice is just as core to the show as those elements, and it's one of the only series that's managed to present it in a way that doesn't aggravate me. Changing most of the cast to guys would pretty much break it for me.

Clannad: Actually, I would watch this. Most of the characters still work just as well swapped, with only a couple exceptions, which I can forgive. I find it difficult to believe that it wouldn't be just as touching swapped, because the story is very well-crafted.Also, the Tomoyo/Tomoya name confusion would be doubled! HIlarious!

Baccano!: It would be decent. While most of the characters here can be swapped, I just think that they work better as they are. Power duos Isaac/Miria and Jacuzzi/Nice would still surprisingly work just fine, which is cool since they're my faves, but some others, like Szilard, Dallas, and the Gandors, would just be strange swapped.

Gosick: At first glance, it'd be fine, but then you realize that the plot just wouldn't work anymore if some of the supporting characters were swapped, since so much attention is given to things like parentage, childbirth, and gender expectations.

Kokoro Connect: I think it would be okay. Some characters have issues that work better with their genders as they are, but none of these would be impossible to present if they were swapped. Each of the main five is quite three-dimensional, so their personalities could still be pretty believable if their genders were changed.

Nichijou: It cooouuuld work... But it's better as it is.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: See the Monogatari fanservice issue. Also, considering that most of the cast actually do act fairly girlish a lot of the time, it would just be really weird. Erm, weirder. In a not-as-good way.

Yeah, I have a lot of favorites. >_>

If they switched SAO then people would stop complaining about Asuna being a helpless princes in the second arc, even though in my opinion she wasn't.

Planetes, no real difference.

I'd probably lose a bit of interest in KnK because of how the characters already break so many gender roles. If Shiki was a man, her masculinity wouldn't be as interesting. If Touko was a man, it'd just be another intelligent man philosophising. If Mikiya was a girl, he'd just become a girl who didn't want the boy she liked to fight.

Hmm. Genderswapping would make Sailor Moon into kind of a peculiar show, though it would be worth watching for a female version of Tuxedo Kamen. ... Well, no, wait, that would take an existing problem and give it an added twist, since it means Tuxedo Kamen (twentysomething) would be involved with a young boy version of Sailor Moon (fourteen). It'd be Shota Moon. I don't think I'd want to watch that.

Monogatari becomes a reverse-harem? No thanks, I just lost interest, especially with the events in the first two recent episodes of "Second Season". The toothbrush scene from Nise could still work, though...
