Hey there. I wanted to ask if CR has more subbers on board now?

One of my biggest gripes and the main reason I have decided not to sub for premium services was because in the past CR simulcasts were really slow compared to fan sub sites. When I mean slow, I mean 1-2 days and not a couple hours. This would put me off big time because if I am paying for a premium service I should be receiving said service quicker than someone who is doing it for free. The 1080p quality wasn't enough for me to sub either. I would prefer a LQ video than to wait an additional 1-2 days for subs.

I recently got a 30 day premium membership and I was pleasantly surprised that has changed a lot this season. Most(not all) of your simulcasts are being released on the same day compared to these fan sub sites and because of this I will start up the premium service at the end of my 30 day free trial.

Hope this trend continues in future seasons. Go CR!

The amount of subbing staff has nothing (or very little) to do with when a show airs on CR. Indeed, there are occasionally times when the subs aren't ready by the time CR is allowed to air, but then they still air the show unsubbed at the allowed time, and usually put up the captions soon after.

CR has to follow licensing agreements with the publisher of each show, and those agreements are what determine the time when CR is allowed to put a show up. (and occasionally getting the legal copy later than expected, something that isn't CR's fault). The 1-2 day thing (and sometimes even as much as a week, not to mention several weeks for Monogatari) is simply because that is when they are legally allowed to show it, not because they don't have it ready.

Those Pirate sites are working off supplying links to storage servers where (unlawfully) captured and coded broadcasts have been taken directly off the air, so yes, they will get it quicker than CR until the Japanese studios start to understand that they also need to release the legal streams at the same time as they show in Japan. Having a vacuum creates a desire, and so illegal means will be employed to fill that need as long as there is a demand. In that sense, the studios themselves are their own worst enemies... It has nothing to do with CR following the legal rules though.

Ah I see. If it's a licensing issue then I can understand. Lots of red tape to deal with. I am pretty happy with this seasons simulcast releases though and will definitely subscribe for premium until next season. Thanks for the clarification.
