This keeps popping up every time I try to watch a video... If I'm paying for a subscription, why can't I watch videos?

Some videos are not available in all regions because of licensing.
In the end it's the license holder that decides what gets streamed where, this is usually the USA and Canada and for a lot of titles also Europe and the middle east.

If you're in Japan however,or for some reason have a Japanese IP address you may not be able to watch anything CR streams.

CR does not, to the best of my knowledge, obtain streaming rights for Japan at all.

I used a Japanese VPN server yesterday, but I stopped using it today and it is still giving me the same thing when I try to watch shows.

CR may not be seeing it as such. Go to the Contact Us page, scroll down to the bottom and look at "Detected Country" (listed in the small type). If it shows Japan, try logging out and back in.

If that doesn't do the trick, if possible, try another browser (such as IE) that you don't normally use for CR. If it shows you in the proper country, try clearing your cache and CR cookies in the web browser you normally use.

It's all good now... I guess I'll just have to turn off my VPN when I'm on CR. Thanks for the help everyone.
