What do people think about bringing figures to college dorms? Ignoring kinky ones for now, since those may break specific rules, but figures in general. Would you or wouldn't you bring them in, and why?

Since you're living alone, why not? ^_^ Agh, you're so lucky. Roommates are the worst!

Go right ahead! It's going to be your temporary home for awhile, so bring whatever makes your dorm feel more like home.

Your by your self. You have absolutely nothing to worry about, its your humble abode. Do what you want. If you think it might be childish then you might as well quit watching anime.

Now if you said you were rooming with someone else, I could see this thread being a good one. (so close ;/)

/end thread.

(I wanted to flame your post because the question just was soooo ugh........but I'm going to hold it in)

If that what you want to do and if that is what makes you feel comfortable then sure, do it.

Unless you think they will be a problem to clean, do it. Set them up in your window sill or above your door frame or something, and like-minded individuals will seek you out.

But seriously, college is the place where you get to meet a wide range of interesting characters, whether you want to or not. It's also a chance for you to be one of those interesting characters. Exploit this opportunity while you can.

Edit: Also, since you are going to art college, you can expect a different ratio of weirdos (read "interesting people") than you might at say, a school that specializes in business or nursing. When you encounter other students who disapprove of your anime figurines, they are more likely to be critical of your taste in sculptors/original artists than the fact that you're collecting figurines. But they are probably collecting House Stark crap, so whatever.

Go for it! I've always kept tasteful figurines with me - at college, in my office, etc.

You say "Collection" so I'm assuming all of them added up is kind of pricey. Just make sure you don't sell them for drug money :3

I don't see why not, though, after my first year of college last year, I decided to keep 95% of my anime and manga stuff at home because one, I go to college FAR AWAY from home, so having to ship everything there and then back was a hassle and I risked damaging my stuff that way. Secondly, even though you live by yourself in an apartment complex, you will run out of room to put all your anime stuff, not just your figurines. I just feel it's less of a hassle to have all my anime stuff with me in my small dorm and they will be safer back home in the long run, plus you don't have to worry about keeping them clean and dust free until you go home. Plus you have to think about the fact that you will more than likely get more stuff while you are at college besides the stuff and figures that you already have. I'm going back to school for my second year in the fall and I'll be leaving my anime stuff at home, besides, I'm going back home for the summer anyways most likely, so I'll see all my precious anime and manga again haha In my case (not sure about you though lol), I'll most likely stay in the dorms all four years of college so my stuff will stay at home, but when I go to get my masters, I'll try to get my own place and then I'll keep my anime and manga stuff with me. That's the plan for now lol

Just a few tips and advice lol If you want to bring them, then go ahead and do it!!! It doesn't matter and have a great time at school!!!! I thought about going to art school, but my love of animals is a little, tiny bit greater so I'm majoring in environmental studies. Although I am a minor in art so I can take more art classes than the required core one Good luck!!! College is great and you'll have a great time...well, if you're going to be a freshman lol...if you're a returning college student than have another great year!!!

I can only blame myself for this, since at times my roommate and I left our door unlocked, but I had some anime DVDs and a collection of gaming miniatures stolen from me while I was at college. If you do bring them, learn from my mistake and keep your door locked when you're not in
