I am currently going to an art college and we have posters in the corridor walls ranging from comic books to movies to anime to gaming to manga - and from other things I haven't been introduced to yet. So I think you should fit right in the group :-)

Cheers and enjoy college - it is a lot of fun :-)

What do people think about bringing figures to college dorms? Ignoring kinky ones for now, since those may break specific rules, but figures in general. Would you or wouldn't you bring them in, and why?

I see no problem with bringing them since you are living by yourself or even if you had roommates. I don't think you should hide the fact that you are a fan of anime/figures or anything.

Don't bring anything to college that would won't mind getting stolen or demolished. Even when you're living by yourself, things get trashed pretty easily. Things get "borrowed" pretty easily. I'd pack the figures away for a while, just to be safe.

If you have a room mate then I'd be wary. You never know when things might start disappearing.

Go for it! I've always kept tasteful figurines with me - at college, in my office, etc.

At the office huh? I never thought of that and maybe it'd be worth doing. Something to liven my desk up I suppose, my desk looks like someone who cares about nothing but work. No family pictures, not even a calender, nothing of the sort. I do tend to have anime wallpapers, but I usually change those when I'm in a meeting, mainly to keep up with the professional look. Maybe I don't need to though, who knows. I've got a lot of stuff on preorder, so there's surely something I could toss on my desk, maybe.

Anywho, on to the OP, I say go for it, but make sure you've got a good space to keep them. You'll probably end up with people visiting, and while they may not be thieves, things can get reckless and the figures could take a hit (granted I'm a dude, but we played lots of games of "mix random stuff together and throw it on each other...... terrible terrible idea lol). You get the idea.

I would also venture that alot of people will probably have no clue on the value of those things so I wouldn't think they'd be a huge target. I don't know if the value of these things increases over time or not or how the figure economy works and whether the value decreases like normal or increases exponentially since it seems that alot of these get sold out really quick.

But I digress, yes to bringing them with you if you want.

Sure, but would you really want to use up the space for your action figure collection? The rooms can only be so big.

sure, it's your room (or your side of the room), do what you want

although if you plan to have lots of people over or have parties they could possibly get damaged. Other than that, I don't see why it would be a problem

I never had enough room for all my toy horses so I left them at my folks' house until I had a place to put them... which was after graduation lol

You should NEVER be concerned about what other people might think.

Why should anyone live for the expectations of others?

If people do not accept you - why should you bother what they think?

As long as you are not harming, hurting, or hindering anyone - whatever you do should be fine.

Probably just 1 for my desk. In dorms less is more, and you wouldn't want someone to steal from you.

I can only blame myself for this, since at times my roommate and I left our door unlocked, but I had some anime DVDs and a collection of gaming miniatures stolen from me while I was at college. If you do bring them, learn from my mistake and keep your door locked when you're not in :)

Awh, that sucks... And exactly the reason I'd say to leave 'em at home
