In general, do people who like One Piece of Heaven like Gintama as well? And vice versa?
I know a lot of people who like both, myself included.

They are both incredibly funny and when things start getting serious,
they kind of SLAY lives and SHIT on others effortlessly.
Story which hasn't been fully revealed yet.
Lovable characters.
Epic fights.
Good soundtrack.
Amazing animation.

They have a lot of similarities.

What do you think?

I don't think Gintama has mediocre animation and, yeah I like both One Piece and Gintama.

I like both

I think Gintama's mediocre animation during the regular comedic episodes are done on purpose because the three goof balls of protagonists AKA the Yorozuya are ALWAYS making fun of the animation and breaking the fourth wall. But during a serious arc it gets movie good. See Benizakura Arc

I haven't seen either and honestly probably won't, at least not for a long time.

There are definitely some things i can agree with you on Chrome and that's One Piece. That is one anime i tried to hate but couldn't for the life of me. It's amazing to put things simply. Gintama on the other hand i couldn't get into at all. I'm on episode 10 (yea still early) but the slapstick comedy does nothing for me in terms of entertainment.

Gintama's animation is far from mediocre. It's Sunrise Smooth!! (You set me up for that one ). But yeah I love Gintama's animation.

And yeah I love em both. But mainly because they're good shounen and those are what make the anime world go round...

The original Gintama was behind the times on animation, but when it came back, it was quite beautiful. One Piece has awkward proportions and generally looks odd. Meanwhile, Gintama is amazingly well done. My opinionated opinion.

I love both these series!

I need to catch up with the One Piece anime, while I also need to catch up with the Gintama manga.

I'm a huge One Piece fan.
I admit I haven't read much Gintama. I bought the first volume and promised myself to get into it one day.
I did like it.
My best friend is fan of both series. So far it seems that correlation is true, maybe because both mangas are funny and light hearted.

I like Gintama only. I've tried to watch one piece, but the comedy just didn't hook me. Gintama was an instant hit after the first few episodes. I just had to keep watching more.

nice

I only watch Gintama and I absolutely love it. It has no real plot, but my favorite genre is comedy/parody so it has me sold right there. And when it gets serious...... it does it right and I'm blown away almost every time.

Although I haven't watched One Piece I hear really good things about it, unlike the other two of the big three. It's just a little too long for me.

Gintama is easily in my top 5 animes and I have yet to start One Piece, but I expect great things. I've gotta catch up on either Fairy Tail or HxH first. Then crap's gonna go down.

I haven't seen too many eps of One Piece yet so I like both but I LOVE Gintama.
I can see how some ppl might not get the comedy. I'll admit there are like one or two I skip, but not because they are bad but because I don't know enough of what that particular ep was parodying. Other than that the writing is FANTASTIC, just watch one of the serious dramatic arcs and you see how a real story is told. Not in some unnecessary 30 episode arc, Gintama can tell a full arc in just 5.
And when it comes to the comedy, they really bring it. So funny, so random and so damn brave - they don't give a shit at a all and I think that pays off. Their character development is phenomenal too, not just the mains, every single side character, villains and even one episode characters are fully fleshed out. They are all unique and can hold their weight on screen which is impressive considering how many characters they have on the show.

I've heard that it's actually better to watch Gintama. The way the comedy and the VAs work, it's one of those few where people say the anime is better.

OT: I like both, though I like One Piece more. I just feel like Gintama doesn't have a nice balance or distinction between serious and and comedy like One Piece does. I can't take them seriously even when they're stabbing people in the eyes and stuff, I still feel like it's a comedy episode.
