No seriously how lucky are they?
Not only do they get to watch whatever releases in their time but on top of that they get to watch all this amazing anime that we had to wait week by week to release.

Let me give some examples,

Angel Beats
Gosick
Attack On Titan
Naruto (By their time it'll be finished and they can skip all the fillers)
Little Busters
The Pet Girl of Sakurasou
Anohana
K-on!!!
GJ Club

etc.....

the list goes on

so guys let me hear your opinion on this?

I just think about how lucky we are to be able to watch the anime that predates this generation...yeah some of the animation is a little outdated but some of the stories are great!

The next generation will probably feel similar.

well the thing is with the next generation is there's not really going to be that big of a quality jump like this generation and the previous one which will attract more viewers to watch it.

for me the quality of some what part of the decision to even watch the anime

It depends usually but some of the older generations' anime series were refreshing to watch while newer anime series has better quality and sometimes, story. The lack of originality though...as of recently...

When does next gen start? Or are we just using a blanket term referring to new people being introduced to the anime scene regardless of age?

I suppose good for them.

Sure they might obtain more immediacy in viewing anime but a lot of them will never know of some of the great anime in the past. It's the same with music, bro.

I don't know if i would describe perceived quality as luck.

They are lucky in the aspect of availability. Now it's just so easy to access anime in any format. Right here on this site we have HD quality streams of the latest anime the day of broadcast in Japan. It's easy to buy DVD and Blu Ray of anime anywhere and even buying directly from Japan online is much easier with no jumping through hoops.

Come a long way since the days of tape trading and the only way you could hear about the latest anime in Japan was through expensive fansubs or through word of mouth and going to Japan. There are parts i miss about the early 90's. Buying boxes of tapes and finding random treasures of hard to find anime and stuff like that. But it's much easier to be an anime fan now and feel connected to everything.

They get the shiny animation, modern art and moe.

The older generation got the memorable characters, actual characterization and wonderful stories.

I think they are lucky that they have things like crunchyroll, and online manga reading sites. When I first got into anime fansubs were pretty sad and took forever to download. So you had to wait for stuff to come to america then pay a bazilion dollars for all the dvds. I couldn't imagine paying $20+ for a 3 episode disk anymore.

OP, have you watched all the anime that the previous generations would have said the same thing about?

It's the same with every generation, looking back isn't common. They will probably be doing the same thing as you are now, raving about the new anime that's airing and then saying how nice it would be for the new generation that doesn't have to sit through each week, and then it repeats. There also were generations who could have said a similar thing about electricity, the first anime, the internet, etc. But people still take most things for granted

I am happy though that I'll be able so sit my child down and have him/her watch all 1,000 episodes of One Piece without having to wait for episodes.
