Animations is better now, but that doesn't mean the plots are.
Like 80% or more of anime today is moeshit. Hard to find the actual good ones. The people behind WataMote knows that. One of Tomoko's lines was to say that a lot of today's anime is just moeshit xD

Considering I only started watching anime a few months ago, I am definitely one of the lucky ones. I have so many shows I need to watch.

the thing is they get both tho

I'd take older anime any day over new ones.

Older animes had better stories, better characters, actual personalities that were not defined by how "kawaii" or "moe" you were...etc.

Um talk about how UN-lucky they are. They aren't lucky at all. All anime is now is a bunch of boring, not funny slice of life, bland action, and more moe than you can handle

And because so they wine and complain about older series that are far superior because the animation is old and not bright.

I just watch anime and one of the most famous philosophy from anime:

You are you and I am I.

I wouldn't say the new generation is blessed because most of them are going to be ignorant ( not trying to be crude). They will go on watching anime without knowing how anime developed and will start in a time where boobs and butts are reigning supreme. However I must say they are lucky in some ways they won't have been influenced by the "classics" of anime and that is a blessing.

I will also say they are not so lucky as of yet. The recommendation thread (while nice and the people who do recommend stuff deserves an applause) are so limited to the range of anime they recommend; I haven't seen a "new" recommendation in a while. While the progress of anime is steady becoming legal and the old generations are dying (my kind) it is disheartening that other good candidate potentials are over shadowed by the legal issues.

Two cents of the day and on the phone.

The protoganist isn't exactly a moe-blob :P
That her best friend is a moe character is just to add comedy.
And no one really cares about her classmates who look cute. :P

Sorry, don't agree.

Majority of old anime (and manga) is classic for a reason - and it is not because it is old.

Most new anime do have moe, or characterization based on cuteness, or are just poor copies of better storylines from older series (among many other things).

Yes: there are good modern series. But compared to how many brilliant gems there are of anime/manga past, the new series fail to deliver.

The only reason people like the classics is because they only saw the classics and haven't even branched to watch anything else.

And since I am on the phone I am AK and Des is Des.

I think the next generation of anime viewers are extremely lucky especially with how cheap anime has become if you want to be legal and not pirate. I still remember paying anywhere from $30-$60 for VHS/DVD of anime no less than 15-10 years ago and if it was part of a series, you would get anywhere between two or three episodes if you were lucky.
