Well, the question is in the title. I'm curious to see what character from what anime people would hate to have die. It doesn't have to make sense that they die or not, but tell me your reaction if that happened too. I suppose you can also mention characters who have actually... well... died. (Angel beats for example). If possible, try not to mention spoilers. But by all means label it a spoiler first. I also have no clue if this has been done before, but hey, why not again?

I will list my character quickly and briefly;
Conan from Case Closed/Detective Conan

Good question!

Eerm, to name a few, I'd say Tomoya from Clannad, Kino from Kino's Journey, and Natsume from Natsume Yuujinchou...

I'd be a wreck if any of them died

Character deaths are part of fiction. There aren't many characters I can think of whose deaths would ruin a series. Every character is capable of having a good death scene or a bad death scene though. It's the bad scenes that I cringe at. No matter who it is, if they die in a satisfactory way, that's good writing.

Sure. Basically, as long as a character is given the attention they deserve in their final moments, or their death helps to move the plot forward, then I'm not going to begrudge the writers for killing them off. Death scenes tend to be some of the best and most memorable ones in all of fiction if they're done well, so a lot of the time, their final moments make up for the fact that they're absent afterwards. Along that line of thinking, I don't mind too much when characters die. My only problem is when they die badly.

A good death scene is either heartfelt and deeply indicative of the character, or important in how it affects other members of the cast (ideally both). When a death does neither of these, it feels like a waste of a character. This is the kind of death that bothers me; the character it happens to is just unlucky enough to be the victim. If it's a character that I like, then yeah, I'll be more upset about it, but conversely, if my favorite character gets a really good death scene, I love it.

Levi, Jean, and potato girl on AoT

and anyone from Gintama but i sure as heck don't see that happening Sorachi-sensei don't get any ideas just because we're laughing

although if any of those or other characters i like die, i hope they stay dead. It's the worst when a character comes back from the dead like what was even the point of killing him/her. coughfairytailcough

This is one of my favorite characters and it is from Berserk...needless to say, his death was soooo shocking I literally cried!! not only because he died but the way he died was so cruel and horrifying even my brothers who watched the anime with me felt very sad.

I was also pretty sad when a certain character from NANA died unexpectedly, he wasn't my favorite but I never thought he would die since he was very important to the story:

As for characters who are not dead but I'd hate to see them gone....all my favorite characters, I guess lol
