I'd say no age is too old, so long as you want to be there. Mostly the Sci-Fi cons attract an older crowd (like World Sci Fi Con) compared to most anime cons or gaming cons that tend to attract a younger crowd, but I've seen the full age range at all of them! And you get anime, sci-fi, and game representatives at all of them, so.. I'd say it's more about which you can get to and have fun at.

You should fit in just fine! Anime conventions have a lot of different panels, workshops and assorted sessions going on all the time. Anime fans in the 40's and 50's are in the minority, but they do go to conventions and have a great time. Just got back from Otakon myself.

Tip: It's more fun to go with a group sharing a hotel room, even if you can afford your own room.

Now that I'm out of my twenties I definitely start feeling like I'm the old man in the crowd. It wouldn't be a scientific guess but eyeballing the attendees everyone is in their mid-teens to early twenties bracket. Gender is about 50/50 even split in my opinion.

Everyone has their own reason for going to anime conventions. Don't mind your age and just have fun! At the end of the day, we're all fans and share the same enthusiasm for anime.

Yeah I feel it too :-( I was born in a country where anime and anime conventions simply don't happen. If I want to go to one or meet people who are into anime etc I'll have to travel no matter what direction of the globe I head in. It sucks.

Went to my first con this year, in my late 30's. I dressed up as characters from my favorite anime and had a blast! I highly recommend a bit of cosplay. You get out of these things, what you put in. And it helps label you as an authentic fan rather than a creepy old dude

There is no age limit, just cash and free time limits. As you grow older the "disposable" income seems to decrease dramatically.

I went to this years Edmonton Animethon for all three days this year... I'm in my 40's and cosplayed as Mario. Went with my daughter and we had a blast. Watched tons anime, AMV's and went to panels... and spent way too much money. Crunchyroll sponsored an anime room thanx crunchyroll! Most of the crowd was in their teens and early 20's but I did see quite a few parents and even the odd old guy like myself. I hope when I am 80 I can still move well enough to go to conventions. I will just pick out a cosplay outfit appropriate to my age bracket

I believe as the anime community grows and continues to age people look less and less at age. I have went to a few conventions and seen many people of all ages attend. I hope their still is anime when I become a senior so I can go to a convention and hopefully get a senior discount.

The crowds are for sure more in the teens and 20s, but I never think anything wrong with an older person going. If you enjoy anime and want to enjoy it with other fans, then I say go. There are older people at the events, so don't think you'll be the only one.
