You can't expect everyone to swallow that pill, ESPECIALLY when dealing with people on the internet. In fact, in a lot of cases you'll just end up offending people with such a direct approach. I know that's not fair, but it's the internet. What can you do? xD

But you're right about one thing. People can't be replaced, but you should definitely accept the fact that some (if not most) of your friends will break off into their own worlds. I've learned from anime that you should try to develop strong bonds with the people you need most.

I don't like speaking to family and friends about my problems--because they have no idea how to make me feel better, in most cases they make me feel worse (by placing the blame on me).

I have been using a free professional counselling service since high school, it's called Kids Helpline in Australia. It's for people 25 and under (yes, 24 yearsold is still considered a kid).

I find that it's much better for me to talk with professionals, as they listen to my problem, help me find the roots of my problem and don't blame me for things I've done.
I'm a little sad that in the next 2 years, I won't be able to use this service anymore.

As for anime giving life lessons? I'm not sure if there are any realistic life lessons to be learned from animes; there are some philosophical ideas being explored, but lessons? That's more of a fable type of style.

The main lessons I learned in anime are that good triumph over evil most of the time, and everything will work out if you have the motivation, but this is not the case in real life.

Well, god certainly hasn't done me any good during my 21 year long life. For me to believe in God is as possible as me believing in Santa at this point.

I would think that in some ways it depends on what one interprets being a loner as. While I do think having friends and social interactions is important I think there is a wisdom and clarity gained from being outside the social world too. I think that being a loner does give you the chance to truly think about things because too often our views of things get high jacked by our need to "fit in" and instead of formulating our own opinions about things we end up just parroting what we are told by others. I guess maybe that comes across as a little dystopic but I guess I found I have learned just as much from sitting outside the circle as sitting in it.

I don't know how I should answer you. I don't watch a lot anime. I can tell you I just had a nice meal with my family and applied anime skills would be have a good conversation "lighten the mood" and "have a good laugh."

I can't define what is a healthy social life. I have a job. I volunteer. I go convention with friends and out drinking with them. I on a semi regular basis go out and play Friday Night Magic.

I guess you can say that isn't healthy. You could set a basis on what is and what is not a "healthy" social life.

Basically you're a loner if you don't have at least 1,000 Facebook friends. Also if you weren't invited to at least 50 drinking parties during high school and 100 in college your also a loner. So basically if that didn't describe you probably need to take a long look in the mirror and try and figure out why people don't like you and then change yourself to meet there standards. Just so you know being a loner is NOT ok. It means your ugly and will never get laid. That's all.

your friends may fade away and be replaced by new friends,

I'm trying to think of an anime that reflects the hard reality of it all, and I can't.

Also, if nobody ever quotes (see above) you are also a loner.

Oh well, i guess I'm the loner of loners then, since i only have 130 Facebook friends, and have been to 6 parties. Gee, my loner life sure does suck. I mean, why do you even bother having so many Facebook friends? Are they the new kinda Pokémon or something? Do you need to add them all?

Just do whatever the hell makes you happy, without giving a dam what society pressures you into thinking is right or wrong. Being a loner isn't bad as some people exaggerate it to be. If you're cool with being alone than I don't see a problem, it just means you don't need to be as dependant on others as much other people.

Honestly, I think about what I could learn from anime all the time. I could honestly make a huge post out of this if I wasn't so tired right now.

I'll come back later with this one.
