According to other communities, it's already been set that SnK/AoT is only scheduled for 25 episodes. My thoughts on this:
It can either go superbly wrong, or it can be the best thing ever.

The con
to this for me is that I'm just a bit worried about how the producers/directors are going to work with the manga because the manga right now is only 48 chapters into the story, and still yet to be weaved together. I can honestly doubt that they would end up filling in the series because the popularity of this anime exploded once it started airing, and the industry wouldn't want disappointed fans.

The pro on the other hand, is that it won't end up being a prolonged anime such as Naruto, Bleach etc (not to be compared to in a negative matter by any means), or at least be it divided into different seasons based on the arcs corresponding to the manga. I'm not a big fan of works that seemingly never cease to settle, but I have high hopes for Isayama Hajime (respectfully), and I'm not too worried about how the anime will end up.

Thoughts on this? Good, bad? Fair? Please do share!

It's likely going to conclude with an anime original ending considering the manga is nowhere close to being finished right now. Don't forget there's still an OVA though and the producers are interested in creating a sequel.

I just hope the series doesn't conclude with some massive cliffhanger.

They have no choice but to disappoint fans. I'd rather they stay with the manga and just wait for another year or two before they can make another 25 episode season. Although, since i'm reading the manga I couldn't care less. This current arc is the only place they really could possibly end a season so it makes sense.

No, they should go for a massive cliffhanger. Where they might be ending the anime, there are a couple that they could use. They need to do that so we can get another season in a couple of years.

And I've heard that it could be about halfway.

I hope something changes because I don't see how this could end in 6 more episodes. There's just no way.

A lot of animes tend to either rush the ending or leave things unresolved. Sadly, I suspect that will happen again, but who knows.

They'll just end the arc and we'll wait on a season 2 if it happens. There hasn't been an ounce of filler in this anime which leads me to believe that there's no way they will make an anime original ending.

I want this show to stick with the source material as much as possible. I'm all for a huge cliffhanger at the end of season 1, and a possible wait time of one or two years for another season.

Well I don't know if you would call it filler but they did expand that second episode by a lot. And they have changed multiple things.

I honestly wouldn't mind an anime original ending, i usually like those. Just don't make it a cliffhanger or something lame.

Way too big for just 1 season. 2 seasons would be great. Or 3............maybe 4. Or you know possibly......5. Lol.

Actually one of the things I really enjoy about this series are the major cliff hangers that just make you want more and more. Although this is a pretty dangerous tactic, the producers have been handling it very well as well as the author himself. Only thing is, will they be able to weave everything in together? Shouldn't be too much of a problem, the manga is yet again taking another turn ....

Manga readers:

Pretty sure they wouldn't advance this far in the anime. There's still a large amount of questions to be unraveled.
I shiver to the thought of this.

Well on another note...

If they end AOT in a way that is in a different direction as the manga... Then I can see how it can be 25 episodes...

But if they do follow the manga... They might wait a year or so for another season... But I do know that it won't become a year long anime...
