Looks like the Middle East is creating their first anime series and its a Mech series. (or at least the trailer makes it look that way)
Title of the anime: Torkaizer

Here is a trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9AyVYTqZC0

What are your guys thoughts on other areas that aren't near Japan making anime?
What area of the world would you guys make an anime type series?
Do you consider it an anime?
Will Crunchyroll simulcast it?
Think it will do well?
Is the Middle East saving the anime industry?
And who going to ask Carly to prom? (joke question)
Find out never.
As for my thoughts

I fell in love with anime because of the beautiful art style! Not simply because it is from Japan! If the anime is well animated and has a good plot I do not really care where it is from!Im really glad other countries are making their own animes! Hopefully this will help anime get some more global recognition again! I also think it is great if this means we get a lot of other different cultures fitted into anime.

judging by all the previous conversations on the topic, most people would consider it "anime inspired", not real anime.

personally, I don't care if it's anime or not as long as the story and characters are good. unfortunately, Torkaizer doesn't seem to fit that bill. not to mention the voice acting sounded abysmal.

I have been known to watch an entire anime just for the girl, that is how dedicated I am. ~AK 2007

The more the better. I'd love if every culture and country produced a pop-culture medium as exciting and rich as Japanese animation, providing the world with an entertainment ambassador that generates good-will and interest. If this particular title kicks off a middle-eastern boon of creative output, maybe in a few years there will be less comments like the ones we now read on that Youtube page.

I think it's great. I mean it's not like other countries going the Anime route have been unsuccessful at creating anime.

Edit:
My post got cut off.

For example:

Avatar the Last Airbender: USA
Totally spies!: Canada
Code Lyoko: France

Those are all at the top of my head. I'm sure there's more. Pretty sure there's 2 more for Canada. Oh! "Martin Mysteries" is another Canadian anime show. Which was great! Not sure if Teen Titans count, but that's American as well.

The definition of words varies by region and language.

In English, similar to cartoon, anime is a style. This adheres to the anime style, so it is anime.

In Japan, anime is short for "animation," so they call anything animated there "anime."

That said, I'm excited to see what they produce. It's obvious their hearts are in it.

Anime can't really be considered a style. It is Japanese animation. If you consider it to be a style then you can't consider stuff like Flowers of Evil to be an anime, but it definitely is
