During my half hour lunch breaks i usually sit in the back room and stream anime on my phone while i eat. A co-worker of mine told me i was weird for doing so. The more i think about it, most people that i know that watch anime only watch it at home. Does anyone else watch Anime in Public? if so, where??

No, but only because I don't have any devices to do so with other than my laptop. ^_^

...And I'm almost never in a public area. ._.

Never if im in public my time is used sleeping, eating or acting like a total fool. I only watch anime in the depths of my basement, with the covers over my head and a bow of Kraft dinner.

When I was still in university, I lived 1 hour away from the campus and I had to take the train everyday. I used to bring my laptop with me, and watch anime on the train.

I don't do that anymore because I don't use public transports anymore. I hate public transports now, too many crazies riding it. I mean, even the government acknowledge that public transports are not safe; I've seen people throw wine bottle across the carriages, I've had people ranting to me throughout my journey for no reasons, and even racist remarks.

It just isn't a safe place for anyone who's riding alone. And the government have since 2012 hired 600 new police to guard the trains, but it just ins't effective.

Yeah when I go out to eat. Watch before my food comes. Then finish the episode/scene after I finished eating before I leave.

I don't go out among the public often enough to where I would ever be able to. Whenever I do go places it is usually for a very specific reason. I have watched it in the hospital though since I am there for several hours at a time every 2 months and it is no big deal. I do pause it when people come up to alter the IV and such though. Just because I want to make sure I can hear them if they say something and not because of any sort of embarrassment from it. I am a bit more picky about my choices of which shows I will watch when people are around though. There are just some shows that people wouldn't understand.

I remember watching a sad anime on my second bus ride ever, i started to get the feeling i was gonna cry but i was afraid since there were a few sketchy looking people and delinquents on the bus. I was able to hold it in and let it out at home, but yeah that was the last time i ever took a bus in a city.

in regards to OP, I don't actually have a set of headphones to do so at the moment, a $300 pair of sennheisers for gaming and pc use, but no heasphones. If I'm in a public setting I tend to be either busy, or interacting.
In regards to the quoted text, the only public transport I have used in years would be the baltimore light rail to and from otakon recently.
The way that went was me keeping close attention and grip on my pockets and backpack as were the other typical train goers. It was highly cost effective to use public transit, but I've always hated it as an option because of how dangerous it can be, especially in a setting of going into the city for the con considering baltimore is east coast detroit at this point. And any other time i go places, I am either walking to work or classes, or getting a ride from some generous soul.
Had a few people getting in a ridiculous quarrel on the train saturday though which sorta sealed the deal of me using it

Back then, I used to sit my back against a corner or wall while streaming off of my ipod with my headphones on so no one would know what I would be watching. Nowadays, I just read manga off my phone comfortably in public because no one would suspect anything.
