AS I'm sure some of you know, when I say "the big 3" I'm referring to Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. And while I read Bleach and One Piece, I wouldn't say they were my favorite manga right now, but regardless of what I think, the world seems to agree that these are the most popular manga of all time... but what happens when they aren't?

If you read Bleach you know or at least speculate like the rest of us that it's clearly on it's last ark, and while it is sure to drag on for a long time, it will surely come to an end with in the next 2 years or so. I don't read Naruto but I hear that it also maybe close to ending. And if you read One Piece... well, yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath for that one. But EVENTUALLY these manga will all end. So I'd like to pose a hypothetical question to you all

BIG QUESTION: If the big 3 were to end right now. What manga do you think would take their place? Now I'm not necessarily asking you to choose your favorite 3 manga, although you are free to do that if you wish. But I also want you to consider what seem to be the most popular manga in the manga community at this point and which one of them have the highest chance of hitting that level of popularity these three did.

The manga that you choose do not necessarily have to be published in the same magazine but if you would like to speculate on what Shonen's next big three will be then by all means.

My Guess:
HunterxHunter (yes it's been on hiatus for god knows how long but when it comes back it's gonna shake the manga world)
Toriko (even toriko has the vibe like it's on its last ark but they have yet to go into the gourmet world so idk theres alot of potential)
Fairy Tail (some people are speculating this is about to end but I really don't see it that way)

I have to agree with you on this. I can totally see Hunter x Hunter, Toriko and Fairy Tale being the toppers instead of the other three. (I'm not even sure if Bleach is even a top lister anymore...)

And to all of you complaining about Hunter x Hunter's hiatus...That's nothing compared to the ten (and ongoing!) years of torture CLAMP has put people through for not finishing X and for stopping it at such a key moment. I mean it's stopped literally in the middle of a very important sentence.

I wish manga-ka's would complete a work no matter what.

I thinks it's Kingdom, Magi and Nanastu no taizai.

Kingdom is already popular in Japan, but it hasn't taken off in the west yet. (Scanlators are working on it.)

But discussing the top 3 is meaningless because eventually it will be brought down through copyright infringment by Gintama

I would love so much for Magi and Nanatsu no Taizai to be it but it's unlikely. I don't see magi going on long enough to reach that level, and while it is rather popular right now its still sort of a niche manga.

Same for nanatsu no taizai. I see this being even shorter than magi honestly. It's a great series though so if you haven't read it yet you should.

I personally don't like/haven't read these, but based on popularity you are probably right. I don't think any of the manga I currently read, except the actual big 3(well I only read Naruto and Bleach) would be able to take their place.

take Bleach out of it. Bleach is not popular now. It can't break 1m/vol anymore. HunterxHunter is always doing good and better than Bleach, but too many hiatus and this is not a weekly manga right now.

IF there is no big3, maybe shonen jump would pick up attack on Titan Shonen jump. I don't see any existing shonen jump manga get more popular just because there is no One Piece, Bleach or Naruto. Bleach and Naruto are going to end soon. I don't see any replacement for Naruto, atleast in term of 1M+ per vol sales.

The popular ones are probably Hunter X Hunter, Assassination Classroom, and Terraformers, maybe?

I thought Fairy Tail and Gintama were already way up there. Honestly I haven't thought it to be appropriate to say "the big three" for quite some time now, since Fairy tail and Gintama have been around. Bleach isn't even close to what it used to be anyway.

I would have to say Gintama. As for anything else, I am not sure on it but I would have to say Kuroko no Basuke (I'm not sure on its actual popularity). Some way or another, a sports manga has to be part of a big 3 at some point.

Bleach is long long long gone.

Also it amazes me how much sales HxH has racked up despite all that hiatus.

I would also like to take this chance to promote "Terra Formars"

I would definitely say Gintama would be up there. Fairy Tail might stand a chance too. I can't really think of anything else.

I Strongly think that Fairy Tail is going to get big when the any of the currant big three stop. It's always been good plus it's in Kodonsha manga can easily grow in popularity base on what magazine their in. With Shingeki no Kyojin Kodansha has gotta a lot more popular and is a contender with Jump when Naruto One Piece and Bleach stop then i think Fairy Tail will replace them.
