When you get older do you think it is okay to still wear or do childish things? What age do you think you should "mature" and stray from that kind of stuff?
~

Being 17 and have been told I act more childish than I should at my age. Personally I don't really care but people like to point out I shouldn't be wearing things like pigtails and bows and such. I feel like I could pull it off since I have been told I have features that make me look younger than other people. I have one dimple on my cheek, slightly big eyes, and am really short I don't know about you but I think that if you feel like you can pull off things that aren't really in your age range that would be totally fine. But pretty much, just be yourself, I guess ^_^

I'm probably the exact wrong person to answer this, but I say enjoy what you do, however you do it. People often say I don't act my age, either, and I say "why should I?" I still like my anime and often wear t-shirts and shorts and stuff like that, even at my advanced age.

I'm turning 26 and I still have a bed full of stuffed animals as well as a bag with a bajillion plushie keychains. And I still like to put flowers or bows in my hair. Oh, I still use my pouty face to get what I want... sometimes.. >_<

I don't really think that just because I'm growing up I need to change who I am; that because I have a job now and I pay bills and stuff that I suddenly need to be different. I like what I like and I don't really think it's anyone's business if it's childish or whatever.

Doing certain things does seem embarrassing, depending on the situation, because as you get older you need to start carrying yourself differently. Ive noticed that there are a lot of things being said behind you that will effect you later on, such as getting ahead in life. For instance, i completely adore wearing pigtails and having plushies. But i know when to be mature and keeping true to myself and when to let myself be open and carefree. It may not seem like such a big deal now, but eventually you'll have to care to survive. :p

Live how you want as long as you always keep improving. Children have the luxury of living more carefree lives than adults. As the grind of adult life continues you slowly forget how to really relax and have fun. Until you grow old, then you are forced back to a more child like state.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be strange to continue doing somethings associated with children, but in general I personally see no issue. I like to slide across the floor in socks, happy to do so at every chance.

What's so wrong with acting like a child? My child life was full of worry and negativity. Live it up.

I tend to wear character t-shirts in public and in the winter I have a Finn hat, owl hat and a chipmunk hat. I don't look my age so I think it's still socially acceptable for me. I still fit in large kids Halloween costumes, I'm totally going trick-or-treating this year. You gotta have some fun in college or you're going to go insane.

i have a few childish things that I like, and while it is embarrassing at times, I just go with it and do whatever I want. My life isn't the most fun so I take what minor and fleeting enjoyment I can out of it. So I say do whatever makes you happy.

I am going 26 and I love bright colors, cute things, etc. I have lots of Hello Kitty things, I can still fit into kid's clothing and I wear them because they are far more cute than adult clothing. All my Hello Kitty and Monster High clothing is from the kid's section. I wear my hair in pigtails a lot but most people actually tell me I look best in pigtails. I have a lot of stuffed animals (mostly cats), I love going to see things like Disney on Ice, etc.

I don't look my age, so people never say anything about my age and still liking childlike things.

One thing I always told myself when I was growing up (and still do) was that I will always be myself, and do everything I like and enjoy no matter what other ppl think, and I'm 35 now and watch anime, read manga, play video games, get together with friends and have an anime night. Some might say I'm weird but I like who I am and I believe my son enjoys having a father who watch anime and play video games with him and I will tell him the same thing, always be who you want to be and do the things you like (as long as those things don't hurt yourself or anyone else)

I'm 17 too and the ultimate manchild. Of course I can be serious and mature when the time is there, but I don't really act that mature for the most part. Time to embarass myself I have a bed full of stuffed toys and a spongebob poster which I can't see any point in taking down, I pull random faces, use my different voices in conversation randomly, jump about a lot and...there's probably more. Anyway, so long as you enjoy your life I see no problem. You only live once so why waste it doing what other people tell you non stop? If someone tells me I'm weird I just comply with 'I know I'm bloody weird and I love it' or something like that because I know I am!

Well, as you get older it is true that you should carry yourself differently.

However, there is nothing wrong with having childish qualities, or doing things that make you happy. As long as you remember your responsibilities, your duties, and it doesn't harm anyone - you keep those childish traits as much as you want.

Its funny that people tell you to stop doing stuff like that once you get old enough to actually have freedom to choose to do stuff you like.
