No im from canada... Sri Lanka was where the giant tsunami hit in 2004... do you live under a rock? you were 10 or 11, that's the equivalent (in american terms) to not knowing september 11th happened in 2001...

you should read up on it, otherwise you'll probably just end up looking silly.

Too bad Jesus never met the McDonald guy, and the fact that his cross was not colourful is very bland.

chrome, you should have just included the last picture since that's all anyone is talking about....talk about lack of a different opinion.

Like slipping on ice in front of a building and breaking our stupid asshole then suing the place for 400 trillion dollars. When everyone including you knows you're just a stupid asshole.
It's called negligence. Bet if you had to walk through a skating rink every time you go to work you'd wish your stupid asshole neighbor would have shoveled their dam side walk.

Actually no I wouldn't.... I'd blame myself for lacking the ability to walk on the ice or find a different path. I don't believe other people are responsible for your own stupid decisions. I've walked onto ice many times in my life but never once slipped on my ass. I'm quite proud of my sense of balance. Its also good fun to slide across. I enjoy ice :)

My point is. People are responsible for where they put their feet; the decisions they make. They should be more aware. If its cold and there has been moisture... there will be ice, look out for it. Don't sue your neighbor/business establishment because your dumb ass couldn't understand something so simple. But I'm not arguing that people should be stupid and just... let things go either.

Don't take it the wrong way though, even if it sounds like it; I'm not directing this rant at you personally.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you or not. But I believe crucifixion was going on long before Jesus came around.

The quote button. LEARN HOW TO USE IT.
And no, I don't live under a rock. Would my computer fit under it?

So Sri Wacka Flocka is a part of Asia.
And since I'm Asian and I know who Jesus is.
That mean Jesus is indeed global!

Also, you look silly.

Jesus popularized it, though.
A LEGEND.

why would i use the quote button, to make your ignorant life easier?

also you misinterpreted, i said there were tribes on islands off the coast near sri lanka. but that's also besides the point. the use of I'm asian so jesus is indeed most certainly globally known by everyone still stands false.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncontacted_peoples

jesus did not popularize crucifixion, it was a form of capital punishment in many countries, and was used between the 2600 BCE and 1400 BCE.
used globally long before jesus allegedly existed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucifixion

once again you come to the debate with no facts, also why would i use the quote button? so you have less work to do to continue this silly argument?

i mean, don't get me wrong, im all for it. the more you speak the stupider you look. So far you've given me

1) Sri Lanka is a made up country - proven wrong
2) Jesus set the crucifixion trend/made it popular - proven wrong
3) Jesus is global and everybody knows who he is - proven wrong

i can sit here all day and prove you wrong, but alas, i have better things to do in life. but here let me quote you once to make you happy.

I agree. I get what they're implying, but still, WHY CRUCIFIXION?
But if their intention was to cause a controversy, then their doing it right.

Jesus is GLOBAL. Even the Muslims and "atheists" know of HA.
How about the other gorls who were apparently crucified?
Nope I don't know them.

The point I was trying to make was that crucifixion was not something exclusive to Jesus.
He is just the main figure that people associate with it.
So these pictures, while depicting a crucifixion, have no association in and of themselves to Jesus or his impact on the world.

I'm just glad you know the tea.
Let's stay on topic though. What do you think of the symbolism
and how it was portrayed? Tasteful? Tacky? Controversial?

I think the symbolism was effective, which is the entire point.
I mean, here we are talking about it right?

Some of the subject matter may be controversial, such as the McDonalds reference, but the image itself illustrates real world issues that are themselves disturbing.

It's like they used their neighbor's kids to experiment with their top of the head idea that they thought was innovative, at the time. The crucifixion is not relevant enough to be reflected in any of these cases. All I see is

Cross = bad guy...maybe? (Roman were the ones who nail jesus to the cross, the cross was just there. it's also a holy symbol so this can't be right)
Jesus = victim and children (although children didn't died for our sins, and they sure as hell didn't volunteer)

Show these pictures to every person in the world, and then see how many really give a fuck.
