Digimon the original was def in 99'. loved watching that freaking show, i think everyone did lol

***These shows had my kinda fanservice= great plot, great art"for its time" and more than 13 eps, as a fan i was served this in the 90's

now fanservice is just cleavage to the max and pantie shots ridiculous

i know exactly how you feel. it seems like every anime out now has got a ridiculous amount of fan service. only a few every season seem to avoid it.

honestly i wish they would remake all the classics with the animation we have today. not really change it just touch it up a bit, remake a few fight scenes and such. thatd be awesome

yea like add blu-ray editions and up the quality xD

Now I'm more than a little biased, but how could I have anything beat OG Gundam, let ALONE ZETA.

Seriously, Zeta Gundam had that Kamille Bidan, I hate him more than most heroes....but he just works as a character, the whole story worked because of him. Every time I look at the newbies like Valrave the Liborator I just shout NO YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG, STOP IT, STOP DOING IT WRONG YOU HAVE A WHOLE GUIDELINE OF WHAT TO DO AND YOU'RE SCREWING IT UP!

Neon Genesis Evangelion deserves a spot on your anime Shelf, It's right next to my Zeta Gundam on the shelf!

The show itself is strong and classic, saw it a few years back, it's really best appreciated watched in a group, as thats how the show plays out. So many small details and complicated love-triangle and not-love-triangles and subtle hints and OOOH GOD. Watch Neon Genesis with a sibling, or close friend. It's always far better seen in a group, while the Original Gundams, both Mobile Suit GUndam (1979) and Zeta are solid solo pieces, they have Movies so you can force your friend to watch'em.

Back to Neon Genesis however, yeah...that show always reminded me of the 90's. Back when you grew up and you and your parents and perhaps siblings found this awesome TV show, and watched it as a family. Shows like Lost, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones...you know right? The perfect group talk shows? THAT'S how I classify Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I was a Rei/Shinji Shipper at first, but on the second view it was Shinji/Asuka ALL THE WAY, but the more you root for Shinji/Asuka the more you know IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN...but for all the wrong reasons. Not the "it can't happen way" but the "It didn't happen that way, WHY OH CURSED GODS OF HELL WHY DO YOU TOY WITH US!" Then the movie happens and, it doesn't happen that way and you're back toRei/Shinji again, and then.......

Go watch it, and after you watch the movie sit with the rest of us who're still confused as to what happened.

Oh, and making fun of the Neon Genesis Ending works best with a friend to bitch about how episode 26 was "5 Pictures/Doodles with 22 Minutes of Dialogue BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF INK"

Aim for the Top! Gunbuster!

Aim for the Ace!

To name two that most people probably don't know about / won't mention. Great shows, both of them.

It matters what you mean by "like that". To me even though I really like the series, it does have a lot of flaws.

I guess what I mean is:

Say you take a show like Initial D and a show like Girls und Panzer and flip them around time-wise. Now Girls und Panzer is a 90's anime and Initial D is a modern anime. Girls und Panzer would be more true to life (with obvious exceptions), without all the cookie-cutter tropes so many other modern shows are using. Initial D however would probably be Initial-Free! with long slow motion shots of guys racing around in convertibles with their luxurious hair blowing in the wind. Don't get me wrong, Girls und Panzer is an awesome show, just for my personal tastes, I could do without so many of the tropes.
I haven't seen Girls und Panzer but what I'm guessing you're trying to say is current anime are all full of fanservice and Initial D has no tropes. Both things that are completely wrong. And Initial D is one of the most trope filled anime I've watched.
