And so what if they're born with a genetic predisposition toward being attracted to the same sex? I'm attracted to Emma Watson, but that doesn't mean I'm sleeping with her.

Are you trying to say that you would refuse to sleep with Emma Watson should the chance arise? Or are you saying that it is somehow more destructive for me to sleep with Emma Watson than for you to do it?

I hardly think that consensual sex between adults is at all comparable to rape and murder, or pacemakers and C-sections. You're right that whether or not other animals are gay is totally irrelevant, because obviously many humans are.

Leviticus 26:22.

I will let loose among you the beasts of the field, which will bereave you of your children and destroy your cattle and reduce your number so that your roads lie deserted.

It's not just about how society worked. God himself, in the bible, commits acts of heinous brutality, and he himself commands that stoning is to be the punishment for certain sins. It seems like you need to do a little more research.

In a way, a mindset like those men have actually seems...natural in a way when I think about it based on the text they subscribe to.

I'm saying that if there's a chance to sleep with Emma Watson, I would still have to make a decision to do it. There's a lot more to making that decision than genetics.

The point is that what society allows and forbids has nothing to do with what's natural or unnatural, nor should it.

Here are pictures of other animals being gay. I've got some more queer deer (the one in the middle looks kinda surprised), monkeys, lions, penguins, giraffes, squid, cows, and a checkered whiptail lizard, which is definitively gay because it's an all-female species that reproduces via parthenogenesis after performing "pseudocopulation" with other females. Apparently god hates checkered whiptail lizards.

So anyway, no more idiocy about how it's "unnatural". If it weren't natural then nature wouldn't do it.

Just because they're horny as fuck and have more testosterone than they know what to do with? It's the same reason that a small dog will jump on a person and hump their leg. It's still not natural because they are not compatible for producing their own offspring. LOL. Horny animals in nature that are just that, horny animals doesn't mean a thing.

So we can assume that you do it like that? Unless you have a low testosterone problem...

I wanted to quote this one more time to bring up another condemning factor here. Another illustrative reason that their argument does not make sense.

There is plenty within the bible that would just be plain illegal or primitive, such as beating and stoning women, or the condemnation of children to being fed to wild animals...

I'm going to doubt that these men live by those parts of the bible. So what? Aren't they placing bigger weight on certain parts of the bible too? Except the difference here, is they place a bigger weight on the parts that brew hate, where as Russell is addressing that it would be more beneficial to mankind if maybe they saw fit to put more weight on the ones that brew love.

There's pretty much no legitimate way to defend how these men choose to fight for their beliefs. When it comes right down to it...living a life that is 100% guided by the bible is actually impossible, because much of it is heinous, criminal, and simply illegal.

Also, I know you don't believe in the Bible or Christianity, for that matter, but you have to remember that around 80% of the Bible is written in parables. Not saying that this is, but God was also a very harsh guidance counselor to the Israelites. He is a deity that demands you love and follow him, or else stuff like that might occur. But the lessons that are taught and learned through these re-tellings (which might not even be true, mind you), are what learning from the Bible is all about.

Once again, I'm not defending these homophobic bastards. Why do people have to hate one way or the other. It's not like they would literally go out and burn homosexuals themselves. They just simply believe they will go to hell. And I do not have a standing point on that, because that doesn't seem right and I'm not one to judge like that.

And you're this big, college-educated, lesbian mom acting more immature than an 18 year-old who just graduated High School?

Nice one.

Are you going to call me names again? Apparently it's your go-to reaction every time you get caught saying something silly.

Sure. I'll just say it how it is:

You're a stuck up bitch not presenting much facts to this discussion, and I don't even know why it exists when you and the OP are shooting down and making critical judgements on anyone that doesn't agree with you on this thread.

College educated, perhaps, but there are still some things you're missing. And you call yourself a mother.

Want to know another thing that I don't agree with? Homosexual parents, either adopting or otherwise. Do I hate people for that? No. It's just my own personal matter, and you seem to think everyone that doesn't agree with you or the OP is just an uneducated idiot. Idiocy this, idiocy that--- I'm glad none of my gay friends are like you.

The funny part of this is that no one has disagreed with any of my opinions, but you (and some others) have tried to dispute many of the facts.
I'd love to see what your "gay friends" have to say about this thread, especially your contribution to it.

You may not be trying to defend them but you are doing it collaterally.

They don't believe the bible is written in Parables. They find it to be true to the very literal interpretation of each word. It doesn't matter what you think.

They are stupid because of what they are doing. This has nothing to do with what you think or believe, it's about how the men in that video are colossal idiots - and then conversely how you think they are justified in their ways.

Interesting little tidbit, but were you aware that, according to Genisis, and scholars of the book, the first gay act was committed by Satan in the garden of Eden? And if, in fact, that were true, it could be speculated that act could have been carried on through his son Cain and that could possibly be the origination of homosexuality, if it is in fact a predisposed condition that one developes as an infant. Just an interesting speculation depending on your stance in the matter. I found it rather interesting myself. But that's if you believe that Adam and Eve are also the origination of all human beings. I don't think that could possibly be rue, though

The only positive thing I think that comes from having extremely long winded intellectual discussion on the internet is, that it proves that having extremely long winded intellectual discussion on the internet isn't dead. Rather self serving.

quoting from the torrah now?

society was very harsh back then and there was very little respect or consideration given to those a person considered their lesser. death was just part of life back then. this wasn't just something going on at an individual level either. judging by what's going on in this thread we seem to be heading back that way as far as respecting others goes.
mosaic law was introduced in a way that people of the time would accept and a lot of the things in the law were mentioned more as a deterrent rather than a this is an absolute must be this way kind of thing. it wasn't meant to be seen as the absolute moral ideal but instead just push people in the right direction.

you probably also think it's just as crazy that a raped woman would have had to marry the douche bag who raped her but back in that time without that she would have been seen as worthless and likely starved to death because of it and the law required that douche bag to provide for her. the law didn't promote rape but it at least made people own up to that bad decision.

the law back then was more about getting people to do the right thing in the kind of society they lived in which eventually leads to things like stoning seeming barbaric and primitive. then again they were fairly primitive back then. so who knew?

You keep on talking about society. This has nothing to do with society. Why do you keep bringing it up? Stop it.
