Do any of you have anime that is sitting on your back log eternally, or you've even made it a bit of the way through the series (maybe even half or more), but for some reason don't find yourself motivated to complete it or watch it before starting other series?

I have had Steins Gate on my back log forever now. I know people say it's good. I have a good idea of what it's about and the concept interests me completely, I'm pretty excited at the idea of watching it...yet I never start it. There's always some other show I keep prioritizing above it, whether inexplicably or not. I even prioritize shows that would otherwise not be nearly as good as Steins Gate will probably be to me, like moe shows or something.

There's a couple other shows like this for me, that are sitting on the list, building cobwebs.

How about you guys? What show are you interested in that you want to watch, but for some reason just never find yourself starting it? Or is there a show that you've even partially completed and for some reason can't find yourself going back to finish it, not because you disliked it, but just for some reason you can't quite put your finger on...you just don't prioritize it?

it took me 3 years to finish welcome to the nhk, i use to be really into mecha/romance but for the last couple years i like anything with romance, mostly supernatural oriented.

I struggled to finish Clannad. It was just overly moe, overly forced-cute, the humour was utterly stupid and unfunny, the romance bland and boring. All the characters had paper personalities that were really put on. What on earth happened to characters that had actual personalities that did not revolve around how "kawaii" or "moe" they were? Ugh. Honestly, that series was terrible.

While Clannad After Story was much better, the moe and other things were annoying. And I dislike Nagisa.

Code Geass was another anime I did not like and had a time getting through because I despise (still do) the anorexic prick Lelouch. And of course there were other things that were bothersome, but would be sure to spark a hostile argument from Japan-worshipers so I'd rather not bring those things up.

Another anime that comes to mind which I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me is School Days. Oh god, that show. The only thing that kept me going (eventually) was the fact that I wanted to see what became of the train wreck plot, and the horror that is Makoto. The ending was most enjoyable.

These are shows you had a hard time getting through because you didn't enjoy them, which is fundamentally different from what I'm asking.

My question is referring to shows that you otherwise do or would enjoy, yet still can't find yourself completing or starting them.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo is one for me. I've actually been wanting to watch this for some time, but for some reason, I just can't seem to start it.

Princess Tutu as well. I've tried watching it twice (each time, I enjoyed it) but for some reason I always gradually put the episodes off and end up putting it on hold.

Elfen Lied as well. I tried watching it, but it was just way too intense. I said i'd take a break from it for a while, and haven't found the right opportunity to pick it back up.

Then both the Fullmetal Alchemist's. I want to watch them, but I never do. Weird, because I read the manga fully and like it a lot!

Also Serial Experiments Lain. A classic series that I keep hearing about. Never get to watching it full, though I have seen a few episodes and really liked it.

Right now, it's Great Teacher Onizuka, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Monster, Aria, Dennou Coil, and The Tatami Galaxy.

The first three have been the biggest thorns in my side for the longest time. One Piece is probably the only other thing with a similar longevity on my list, but I don't think I'll ever watch it. It's just something that lets me understand more references, to be honest.
