The 13th Gold Cloth's design is here, and we apparently get a bit of backstory on it! This isn't the best translation, but I got what I found:

"The Saint guarding the Temple of the Serpent Bearer, was the most outstanding courage, benevolence and wisdom among the 13 Gold Saints. He performed noble deeds and save those suffering from diseases and heal those who were wounded. And without realizing it, he became known as a God. However, very soon he became arrogant and wanted become a god. Due to the fury of the gods, the Sanctuary chased him and its existence has been deleted."

So, what do you guys think?

Sounds interesting. Something kinda like god kicking lucifer out of his kingdom. I wonder if his power is equal to that of a god?

That could very well be the case. As for his/her power...I'd at least be inclined to believe he/she was stronger than a normal Gold Saint, and even possibly some gods. Though I doubt stronger than Zeus.

Well, Athena has her Saints, Poseidon has his Mariners, Hades has his Specters, and Artemis has her Satellites (not counting Omega having Mars' Marsians and Pallas' Pallasites).

While they haven't been confirmed as being under Zeus yet, we do have the Angels. We only see one (a fallen angel from above), but the whole Sky theme makes me think of Zeus' people.

I hope we see more in the near future.

I'd also like to see Shaina become the Ophiuchus Gold Saint, since she's already the Ophiuchus Silver Saint.

That is Saint Seiya: Next Dimension. 20-something years hasn't hurt Kurumada's desires to put out more material (or his art *though he was rusty for the first dozen or so chapters, lol*).

The volumes released are in full color too, which is nice (the magazine putting it out now greyscales the chapters in magazine since other mangaka were complaining about him taking all the magazine's color pages for whatever week he released, lol).

Kuru knows how to introduce a character, that's for sure.

He also makes a good poster.

Man, these new reveals have just gotten me pumped up for the new chapters. We should have a few more weeks of chapters in this batch, so who knows what we might see. Maybe we'll get to see the new Cloth in action.

Volume 7 just came out recently, so yes. We just got chapter 55 out, with more on the way. Rather than release chapters regularly, he's been releasing them in batches, where a few chapters come out weekly, then it hits a few month break while more chapters are made.

I remember debates about the 13th Gold Saint on the old Saint Seiya Mailing List some 20 plus years ago. I'm sure this made certain peoples day if they are still in the fandom.

Omega is basically the Dragon Ball GT of Saint Seiya, non-canon. Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas also isn't canon. Neither is Saint Seiya: Episode G or Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho.

Only the original Saint Seiya and Saint Seiya: Next Dimension (which is done by series creator Masami Kurumada, in full color) are canon.

Really, for the original, it also helps to stick to the manga, given how much Toei changed by making up their own stuff.

I imagine there was a lot of debates given the whole Ophiuchus thing back in the day. If they don't know, why not tell some of them somewhere on the net? Might make for an interesting response.
