4. A lot of piercings are not too functional. I hear my friends complaining about their nose studs getting snagged on towel or their latest belly-button piercing infection. I have also seen too many movies where someone's nipple ring gets ripped out and I've been to too many summer cheer camp where a girl forgets to tape her new piercing down and it gets attached to the flyer as she dismounts (ouch).

this is unfortunately one of the few true downsides >_< i have caught mine a few different times and it is probably the only moments i ever look down and scream "why did i even get these?!" lol but it doesnt hurt terribly bad if they get snagged or pulled hard just for like a split second and then its like nothing happened.

I'm fairly tattooed and I have my tongue pierced. I'm probably gonna take out the piercing soon though.

What are your reasons for removing the piercing?

...or you just buy safer piercings. Alternatives to pure steel.

yea didnt know about that at the time and i never liked how the plastic ones felt in my mouth . i slowly got rid of them through time i guess i just grew out of them by the time i had to work in a office and piercings were a nono i was ok just geting rid of them all. i personally think piercings are great love them on people. i just felt for me they were more fun when i was younger and didnt have to worry about responsibility of a job that requires u too hide your tattoos and no piercings

I have 1 tattoo so far that's a heart with a crown over it. I can't seem to find a picture of it right now, and it's on my shoulder blade so it's kind of an awkward spot to take a picture of it without someone to take it for you. I have 2 piercings on my earlobes that I've recently gauged & are sizes 16 & 14. I might go up a few sizes in the future, but I'm not sure how far I could go before my work would say something. I've tried cartilage piercings in the past, but for some reason the 2 times I've gotten them they never fully healed , so I just gave up on them. I really want to get some kind of Sailor Moon tattoo, since that was my first anime, but I'm trying to settle on a design/location that I like first.

I like guys/girls with tattoos, but it's not a requirement for me to date someone that has them. I think if someone wants to modify their body that they should go for it, but if you're comfortable the way you are then that's cool too!

i totally agree, i do think there is a point in life when you sort of out grow those types of things or at least they lose their luster when your job and other things become more of a priority. its a shame workplaces arent as open and understanding to tattoos and piercings though. its always made me think hard about where i get my tattoos at because i always wanted to ensure they would be covered in case i ever wanted to go out and get a job

To be honest, you gotta be able to work tattoos if you want them, to me anyway. Not a lot of people look good with a tattoo, I worked with a lady who had a couple tattoos, and they looked like garbage to me. One of those characters that got a kanji or chinese character, and mostly doesn't know what it means. Not many women can work tattoos, that's my personal opinion and before I get labeled a sexist, there's a ton of dudes who don't look good with them too. I have one, and plan on getting more, but that's besides the point. I don't like facial piercings, and gauges are disgusting to me, nothing is attractive about them. To be honest, I'd never get a piercing.

Many people wish they did not, get a tattoo after some time goes on. Piercings just say your a freak or sex addict.
