With the current shows, I would have to say Eren. I feel that a lot of the other characters have more dimension to them, and they're much more interesting even though Eren can turn into a titan lol. His character just feels so ... flat like beer that's left opened on the counter. Heck, I'm more interested in finding out if potato girl likes ketchup on her potatoes.

Tomoko (WATAMOTE) though I don't think the manga writer or the anime production people intend on giving her any character growth lol, I think the whole show is just her getting herself in ridiculously cringe worthy situations.

Thats what people be saying! He's had no development or growth so far, and his character doesn't make proper sense!

Simply changing the way of the story, so that he wanted to be something OTHER than a Soldier in Scout Regiment before the Titan Attack would be fine. That's all Armin needed to become dynamic, WHY CAN'T EREN BE THAT DYNAMIC. He is a one note character shouting "KILL ALL TITANS" like some kinda robot.

Damn it man, Eren went through things that would push his life towards being a Soldier in the Scout Regiment, WHY WOULD YOU MAKE HIM WANT THAT BEFORE THIS? At least his backstory with Mikasa was good, but that was HER backstory, give Eren some!

Oh, and Eren x Armin, that's happening.

Don't worry. Jean takes care of being the guy that should have been the main character.

Also Armin can have Eren. Potato Girl and Mikasa are meant to be.

I'm telling you, Attack on Titan is about the true love of Armin and Eren.

When Eren got eated, was Mikasa there? HELL NO, Armin was! HE experienced the Grief. SHE experienced second hand grief, not as big.

When Eren was a giant titan, did Mikasa bring him to his senses? SHE GOT SLAPPED! ARMIN was the one who snapped him out with a pep talk.

Potato Girl needs a better name, I like her, give her a name already, or was it the lesbian friend who didn't have a name? I don't know!

And Jean isn't main character enough, he's more successful secondary character material.

Kirito from SAO. I´ts like the writer wanted to make the most perfect character with no flaws whatsoever. Newsflash! perfect=boring.

Absolutely cannot agree with you in that Eren is "under-developed". He arguably has some of the most development in the show at this current point in time.

He's having some development right now, and it's great.

But during the battle of Trost his character was entirely static, his goals from the first episode to the end of Trost were unchanging and strictly "KILL ALL TITANS" even before he saw a titan or lost his parents.

As of the last episode he's further improving, and I'm loving it, but I still believe he's under-developed compared the rest of the cast.

That won't last long however, Mikasa's been out of the spotlight for a while, and Springer is totally building in to a Krillin character. So I'm expecting Eren to jump up as soon as the anime ends.

The minute he goes from "Kill all titans" to "protect friend and family...or something" he has become dynamic and I'll be happy for him.

Well i think Eren was traumatized by the titans since he can remember and wanted to explore the world. Then his mother died, turning him into a complete killing-frustrated machine. But from that point to where the anime is now i think Eren has developed a lot, he's staring to make decisions for himself, listening to his comrades, and thinking other things than just ''KILL THE TITANS'' even when one is just behind him. It's slow but to anyone who's ever had a trauma its not easy task, it can years to make the slightest change depending on how deep it was. Im sure by the end of the anime hell change a lot.

True, that seems to be the big deal.

I originally flt they had Eren be "Generic Brown haired" to trick people into reading, now it's turning him into a real character.

He doesn't have the benefit of amazing early character development like Mikasa does, she even got a flash back! Everything happening to her just has more impact, same with Jean and in a way Armin, altho Armins change is thanks to Eren every time.

Yeah, Armin X Eren, I don't have to fanfiction something that's already happening.

I know that I'll probably get some shit for this, but Shinji from the original Evangelion series. Goddess, he was such a whiny wimp in that and didn't even want to fight in the Evas. He needed to grow up and get some balls. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the original Eva series as it's one of my top ten favorite animes, but not because of Shinji but because of the other main characters. Shinji was so annoying and wimpy as a main character that it made it hard to watch sometimes. Plus, the theme song talked about how awesome he was and he totally didn't live up to that hype. At least he grew some balls towards the end of the series and in the first two movies, and that made up for how he acted in the series and the crappy ending that it had. Though, I always believed that the series wrapped up things emotionally-wise and that the first two movies wrapped it up action and main story-wise.

Most harem leads seem to fit the "weakly developed" category. Most of them even seem to look alike, sadly. (At least Ye Olde Itou Makoto moves in an unpredictable direction.)

Aot hasn't even finished it's first season, and the manga feels like its not even close to being halfway done. Don't you think it's too early to say Eren character is weakly developed? It would make sense to save the most important character development towards the end. But I do agree that, compared to everyone else, Eren's character development is lacking as of the moment.

Any character that is super one-dimensional who never really changes during the series. If a character stays one-dimensional and predictable, I don't often see a point in having that character as a protagonist.

Some one-dimensional characters:
-Natsu (Fairy Tale)
-Naruto (Naruto)
-Touma (To Aru series)

Oh, are you talking about "Generic Blue-haired guy" or his younger brother, "Generic Brown-haired boy"
