I don't see myself getting one in this lifetime, so I wish those people would leave me alone.

I don't see the point of paying for something, and then when you die, you can't really use it...
even if i have children, they should work to earn a living, not live off my dead body.

Does anyone here consider getting one?

I'm not really a fan of giving anyone a reason to kill me.

If I ever start a family, I'd be willing to look into it at least, but as of right now, I have no reason to consider it.

Yes, but my country hates the idea.

Edit: pfft, oh me. I thought you meant health insurance

Well, yeah. It would be a waste if all the things I have now slipped away to the government's hands

I can barely afford to put money toward my 401k... retirement is so far away, but so worrisome... so Life Insurance not for me... Health insurance is expensive enough!

My family has never really had much money and so we always try to have life insurance so that we can give the person a decent burial. We don't ever get life insurance policies that would make anyone rich. It all goes towards their funeral and stuff. Currently only one person is able to afford life insurance so if any of the others die there will be problems though.

Absolutely I have life insurance!
With mortgages, bills, and the cost of having a wake, memorial or funeral (which can cost from $3000 on the low end and is usually cremation, up to $15,000+ for a normal burial with just mid-grade coffin, headstone, and burial plot) - you would definitely not want to come out of pocket in the event that your loved one passes away. And you don't want to leave the person you love with the stress of having to now support a household by themselves...at least not right away.
Life insurance is meant as a cushion for the next of kin, not necessarily so your family can take a vacation or quit working and be better off without you there...

My best friend passed away last year at 49 years old and left a wife and a college age daughter behind. He didn't have much in the way of life insurance and the wife had to sell the home they had just purchased a few years ago and work two jobs just to be able to afford someplace new. The daughter got a small art scholarship and some state grants to go to college, but things are still extremely tight for her having to live on campus. If my friend had had even $250k in life insurance, it would have been enough to keep the family home, and maybe have a small cushion for emergencies and for the daughter's college tuition...

Life insurance is just as important as home owner's or car insurance. If you are in good health, it can be as cheap as $20 a month, so it is definitely affordable, much more so in fact than health insurance.

life insurance is tricky here's the break down and how it works. lets say your kid college kid -30K in debt come from a poor family and your kid doesnt have life insurance. even if it is 20 buck a month.

your kid is popular gets drunk and overdose on drugs and dies...his debt goes to parents, funeral 15k around other expensive medical autopsy etc.. averages around 30K so your looking at 60K for the loss of your son. or daughter i dont know..

the trick.. life insurance some only cover natural death meaning if you were murder or overdose drug you'd still be payin for no reason lol.
besure to read the bottomline kids ;)

btw i sell volcano insurance anyone want lol

i usually get the basic policy that the job offers. i'm single with no kids. all you need is $10,000 to bury yourself if you die. if you have a family you want to get enough to pay off your house, and to bury yourself, pay off any outstandinding debts. $250,000 should be sufficient. only rich or famous people have million dollar policies. usually your fees are only $20 month if that if you are healthy. cut out 1 night of partying or eating out a month and you've paid your premium for the month. also if you get sick and can't work, you can borrow from your policy until you are well again.even if you don't get life insurance, purchase your own burial insurance. here in atlanta,ga it costs $1000 for creamation. funerals cost between $7000-$15,000.don't make your family suffer with trying to pay to bury you while they are grieving your death

of course and having a family shouldnt factor into having it cause when you die some one has to foot the bill for your final costs of your funeral being buried or cremated isnt cheap you know. and even if you dont have a wife or husband then that cost just falls back onto your parents or brothers and sisters or whatever next of keen you have. life insurance is just to make sure people you love dont suffer financially because of you demise. its emotional enough to lose a loved one but then to be out nearly 5,000. that just makes it even worse
dying isn't cheap my friends :p

I highly doubt that I will. I also doubt that I'll ever start a family. But even if I do, as someone here has said, my kids don't need to rely on me. And leave my body to rot for all I care. I'm DEAD. Dead people probably don't expect much.

but think of the wild life your dead carcass would attract a wolf could try to cross the road to munch on that rotting corpse and get hit by a car
