I'm currently in an Anime-Overload mode with several showing titles like Attack on Titan, S3 of God only knows. With the whole Gundam X Series on a bootleg DvD I got off amazon, 15 episodes in and it shows me some amazing Secondary characters and story arcs. Like WOAH, once I finish Gundam X it might shove up to top 10 spots if it continues with these amazing stories and such.

That said, I've JUST finished beating Demon Souls/Dark Souls in a rerun-marathon. Managed to beat both games in a week, but Dark Souls always finds a way to make me angry. With its wide range of options and cool abilities, Dark Souls comes out the better game with far more customization and options.

While Demon Souls is far more balanced, with a darker Tone and waaay cooler fights and set pieces. Nothing against Artorias or Ostern and Smogh, but they can't compete with walking in on a Tower Knight, your first face off with Old Hero, or the Imagination fulfilling Stormking.
Hell, don't get me started on Alant, Penetrator, Maiden Astrea, Double Man-eater, and Old Monk!

Seriously, the Gargoyle fight in Demon Souls was so good, they threw it into Dark Souls earlier on! A large brightly lit Roof is a sexy awesome set piece, but the Dark bridge and ominous lighting had Demon Souls atmosphere waaaay more creepy, adding to the experience.

I've also been clocking a few hours on Katawa Shoujo, a Free-to-obtain-and-play Visual Novel made by what I assume to be Canadian's and Americans about trying to bang some crippled women, only you know, with story....very little to do but read in that one.

hmm.....I've also got Fate/Extra on my PSP that I'm attempting to complete, but with only 3 bosses left I'm here thinking "hmm, the combat system is rather.....wtf" with the second boss being the only thing in game to deal poison damage...thanks alot Archer, you made me buy and use more than 10 in our fight, but I've not found a use for them sense! And dammit, I'm playing as a chick here, why does Rin treat me like some horny guy? I mean, I kinda am but still, you couldn't add more than one line of dialog that's separate depending on gender?

it's like that World of Warcraft quest where a Demon has you do 10 stupid quests including picking flowers, burying acorns, and setting trees on fire in order to "trick you" into freeing him. Demon man, dude, I'm an Undead Warrior. I don't care about you being free. Just say "dude, let me out of here" and I'll be all "sure, why the hell not" I'm not a Night Elf, you don't have to jump through hoops with me.
Oh, and that one time, when we got thrown into the Ocean, and that Shaman was all "don't worry I'll save you!" and I'm shouting "I can breath underwater dude, help THEM, no help them I got this! Trust me I, nooooo!" then I spent 3 weeks rescuing the guys he never rescued.

Damn crazy people.

Oh, and I need to pick up Saints Row 4.

Currently playing Tales of Xillia. Bought the uber-awesome Collector's Edition with Milla figure and other goodies. The figure is very cool, btw.

I'm always playing Blazblue. Best fighting game ever made, ever. If any of you have it, I'm always up for XBL/PSN matches.

more of a Soul Calibur man myself

Hows Tales of Xillia? I look at the Female lead and go "there yah go, nice work" but then I look at the hero and say "Come on now, at least put a little effort in it!"

I can tell it's going to be neat, but how neat is it?

And I'm going to make a Figure thread now.

Xillia is good so far. Then again, all flagship Tales titles are.

I'm NOT playing Milla right now. I don't like her fighting style, so I went with Jude. He's a pretty good character so far. It's the same basic Tales formula, though they've changed up some of the battle mechanics, and now the game has a Sphere Grid / Crystarium-style leveling system.

I don't understand nothing of the Tales titles, because I don't know anything about them

But I know the Sphere Grid, oh that amazing Sphere grid, you're luring me in.

What do you mean you're not playing Milla? Do you pick your character?! What's going on!

I only play classic Namco games such as Pac Man, Jr Pac Man, New Rally X, etc. I'm not much of a gamer in today's generation.

Yes, you can pick your character. There's basically 2 scenarios. You need to beat the game twice to see everything.

If you've never played a Tales title, you're SERIOUSLY missing out. I mean, SERIOUSLY. Like, I should go to your house and punch you out for even saying that. Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces, Tales of Xillia, take your pick. Every flagship Tales title is epic and should not be missed.

If you like JRPGs, these are far and away the best. What game systems do you have?

And on a side note, did anyone else pick up Hatsune Miku - Project Diva?

aaaah! Tales of Symphonia and Vesperia I know of.

but I have not played. It's just, I didn't own a gamecube (or something) and I was rather busy with my Final Fantasy titles...you understand.

I man, Final Fantasy X isn't going to beat itself 4 times over...and neither is Final Fantasy VI!

I'll be looking at Tales of Xillia...later, I need money for this "collectors edition" because I only buy things with figures now. It's a rule.

Ever since I bought Starcraft 2, not knowing that a collectors edition exists.....why doesn't gamestop tell me these things? I would have shelled out twice the cash for such a thing! Don't even make me remember Skyrim's Dragon figure! Oh you figures, I must one them.

Sphere grid rocks.....

1 - FF7 and FF10 are the best in the series. By far. So good for you!

2 - Tale of Symphonia is almost identical to FF10 in terms of story. It's getting an HD remake on PS3 next year. DON'T MISS IT. It was a Gamecube exclusive, so unless you go buy a Gamecube or Wii, you can't play it.

3 - Aside from FF7 and FF10, Tales is better than every other FF title.

4 - You'll never get a Collectors Edition Tales of Xillia, unless you spend huge $$$. It was a very limited run. I preordered mine at Gamestop, then a week later went in and asked about it and they said preorders were sold out. They went pretty quick, and I'll guarantee you they're price gouging the shit out of it on eBay and Amazon right now.

If you have an Xbox 360, Vesperia is probably the best place for you to start. It's also one of the best. Abyss is on PS2 and 3DS. Symphonia is on Gamecube and being remade for PS3. Graces and Xillia are on PS3. Phantasia is on GBA. Destiny is on PS1. And there are some offshoot titles thrown in there.

I just looked closer and realized that you said FF6, not FF7. So I take back what I said. Bad for you! (That ! looked like another I)

FF is dead to me ever since the Square Enix merger. I haven't seen a good FF title since 10. FF and Squaresoft used to be the gold standard for JRPGs, but now that title belongs to Tales and Namco.

FF9 and 10 are my personal favorites. They're the only ones I found myself willing to 100% clear (besides FFX-2). FF12 had a fun combat system. The others really didn't stick out for me. I did end up 100% clearing FF10-2 but it was kind of meh. FF11 was fun, but a little on the difficult side for one accustomed to soloing a lot. FF13 was...pretty, lol.

Currently playing FF14 2.0 and enjoying it. Looking forward to FF15, it looks neat.

SE is laughing all the way to the bank with 13-2 and Lightning Returns.

woah woah woah, don't you ignore FF6.

I finally got around to it since it went on sale on the PSN, and by god it's amazing as all hell, how the hell did they make it so grand? Why is FF7 better? Just because it has crappy 3d? I like the 3d and all sure, but the story of the two games are just so vastly different. Same with the combat system, 6 using a more traditional rpg turn based system compared to 7's active time battle.

the thing that puts 6 waaaaay up there to me, includes the whole package. The story is well crafted, with Kefka being far more memorable than Sephiroth ( in their own original games, Sephiroth might have a movie and tons of fame but in his own game he's...)
The basic encounter for Sephiroth would be "heeey cloud! Bro! whats up....oh, gotta go, seya bro!" and Cloud and Co. would be all "HEEEY WAAAIT! WHAT'S YER SECRET PLAN? Damn, he got away, lets go do cool 3d graphics stuff until we find him"

While Kefka was all, "Fuck you heroes! I'ma slapaya with mah mace! Nooo, not the face!"
Then we beat Kefka up and he ran away crying
Then he poisons the river and kills 500 people for revenge.....the asshole.
Then he shows up again to stop us from doing whatever...you get the drill

Kefka was just so active, always in the way, always one step beyond you. You might beat him up or such, but he'll just return later to cause more mischief.... until he was able to do a bit more than that.

And well, 6's combat system was just amazing, not a single two characters played alike. From the Swords-system of Cyan, Mr.Ryu from Street Fighter Sabin, Tech-wielding Edgar, Shadow the Ninja....a ninja, WITH HIS LOYAL DOG TOO!, and that one kid with the mosnter stealing ability.....I didn't like him too much.

Truly a great game....I hated FF12. That game was horrible. I actually passed off on getting into Xenosaga because "I should play FF12 first" and now it's too late. I even own Xenosaga, but I've never been able to sit past the start of the game! IT's so long, WHY! Why is it so damn long? I hate you Xenosaga, why? WHY!

Yeah, that Merger, I remember it, and I was young as hell at the time...and still have a game informer informing me of it.

The Xenosaga trilogy is the best RPG ever made. Period. Nothing will ever top it.

FF6 fails on many technical fronts. For starters, the enemies aren't animated. And they never were until FF7. In contrast, Phantasy Star had animated enemies on the first release for the Sega Master System. It also has too many characters, most of which I don't care about at all. Gogo? Umaro? Even Mog was pointless to the story. In FF7, everyone mattered. Kefka is a joke. The least threatening villain in FF history. Except for maybe Kuja. Sephiroth may be emo, but he perma-killed a party member. Kefka is just all talk. And Sephiroth's summon magic destroys the entire solar system!
