We must all love anime and Manga, and I'm sure you all thought about writing your own very cool story.

I have this awesome friend that draws really cool stuff and we both share love the love for manga.

Anyways we decided to make a manga series in our spare time. I write the story and he does the drawing

I'm not really sure what I am hoping for since we both British (basically not Japanese) but it's cool. At least we're doing what we love to do.

Tl:dr we making a manga series, just to let the world know, people outside japan want to draw manga aswell

Anyways I have started writing the light novel series in like a blog format, chapter by chapter and we have started to draw the series as well

If you want to know what is about well, It's about a world where people can control elements called crests. Light, Dark, Earth, fire, Thunder and Force

The way you control it is based on personality. It's really a mystery, explore the world adventure with a lot of fights and twist.

Well What I wanted to ask was any real interest in English made Manga, and I loved to know whether your writing and drawing something yourself.

Cheers.

It's cool to hear other people outside Japan making manga too, I'm rooting for you guys! :D

I have tried to write, but since I've never written anything in my life I'm having a hard time. English isn't even my native language. ^^ I don't really believe I can make a manga all by myself but I would've liked to try and draw for a manga one day. I have more experience with art :3

This was my first and only attempt at the page format http://fav.me/d619rgw
and on the art section of the forum I have a "Original character design" post where I try to post all my sketches.

Wouldn't it be considered a comic series instead of a manga series?
I'm pretty sure that manga are Japanese comics...unless your stuff is in Japanese, it's not a manga

Best of luck though

Your on Baka-Tsuki, well at least you post to the FB and read the Tled novels! I recognized your LN idea. You will have to provide your links again, so I can read it. You have an interesting idea and if I recall you have an interesting writing style. Your writing is closer to Screenplay or Script in style, rather then descriptive novels, right? I saw some complaints about it but I think it could work if you do it right.

If you would like to talk ideas or other things related to writing, I would be happy to help. I'm tossing around some ideas for a Light Novel in my free time.

On another note, I can't wait for winter break so I can get some serious BT editing done! If any of you like Light Novels or would like to get into them, please visit www.baka-tsuki.org. There is a decent collection of Tled Light Novels, some of which will be getting Anime in the coming seasons. There are many languages, so please give it a try and keep a lookout for the Editor JesseAlexander (me) and read some of the projects I'm working on.

It's not. there's comic-style and then there's manga-style. Being Japanese doesn't make it a manga and being an English doesn't make it a comic. there are many manga translated to English yet they are still manga.

Well, being translated doesn't change what type of comic it is.
If the original comic was done in Japan & translated into another language, it's still manga.

You can draw a comic in manga-style, but it's still a comic if it's not done in Japan :p

As I've said before, being an English or Japanese doesn't determine whether something's a Manga or Comic. The Style does. For instance if Naruto was illustrated exactly the same way only made in America, it wouldn't be considered a Comic.

Explain what you mean by style.

Anime stye has heavy emphasis on eyes and hair. And under exaggerated noses and mouths (unless ti's a surprised face). As oppose dot the comic style which gives mostly all of the facial features equal emphasis (sometimes the nose is exaggerated though).

Also most comics are about Superheroes and geared towards young kids whereas Manga has a wide range of subjects and genres and multiple readers of all age groups Plus Manga is in black and white and printed from right to the left. Comics are the exact opposite.

Manga has facial expressions and markings unique to them (e.g. sweat drops). Also Manga tends to be more focused on pacing rather than rushed action scenes. So that's what I mean by style.

Alright, but that last part can be said for western comics as well. Not to mention that many western artists/authors branch out from the"traditional" western style, they're not hard to find if you search. Anyway, here are some articles I found on the subject:

http://www.comicvine.com/articles/comic-artists-vs-manga-artists-who-does-it-better/1100-139388/

http://everydaylife.globalpost.com/western-comic-style-vs-manga-13251.html

http://www.comicsbulletin.com/columns/182/comics-vs-manga/

Also, regarding that last link, it talks about manga not being a "genre". By this, manga isn't "manga", you know? They're Japanese comics, plain and simple. It's like the argument that anime aren't cartoons. They are.

I'm curious, though, about something. To put it simply: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Based on the posts I've seen, something to do with fine arts?
