If u look closely, though, it was last "edited one hour ago". So maybe BasouKazuma updated/corrected it a bit to reflect the current issue (since he may have noticed people have been referencing his post here)? Just a guess, though.

Just so people of the NON technical persuasion can understand. The comments normally get turned off due to a Hack, DDos, or server overload/bottleneck of system resources. The last one is the most probable for being the reason is for this outage. By turning them off they can dedicate more server hardware resources to the main objective of streaming anime to everyone. With all the advertising they have been doing as of late they forgot to upgrade the server cluster to support the massive amount of new customers and to prevent the whole site from crashing they turn off resource intensive processes. Believe me when i say that comments are VERY resource intensive so is usually the first option to get turned off until a upgrade in hardware and/or software is put into place.

So enjoy the anime and make a comment thread here about it to post your comments for now as the forums ARE on a different server cluster using a much simpler code. Have a great week all.

I think maybe it's fixed now. Hopefully it can stay that way. I know fixing stuff that breaks and/or upgrading stuff to keep it from breaking can be a thankless job sometimes for the people that work (sometimes very long hours) hard to to make all this work. So to all the techs working there, do your very best and thank you for all your hard work. Have you hugged a tech today?

I'm quite appreciative of the work they're doing. I just wish there was a bit more transparency about it.

On another note, I am a tech person, and I've done very long overnight upgrades before. I'm going to store this virtual hug for the next time I'm working long hours.
