Apparently it's being considered AGAIN. Sign the petition here so they can't do this!

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-sopa-2013/LMzMVrQF

I'm honestly tired of the government trying this stuff. Also, people who download things illegally, won't probably buy it ANYWAYS!

I heard it's happening in the UK already, except it's under the disguise of 'protecting' the children and blocking sites they don't like.

Of course they're going to keep proposing it especially when their funders (major corporations) are "persuading" congressmen to propose this sort of legislation.
Also, the notion that people who illegally download it won't buy it is false. I torrent and watch anime online for free but if I feel that the anime is actually good, I'll buy it. Same goes for games.

I find it false and true to be honest. If a book is good, and I downloaded it, I like to get a handheld copy. But if a person downloads something in the first, what makes anyone think they'll buy it? It's like the sims 3. Some people liked it, but downloaded the illegal copy and didn't want to buy a real one. It still made a LOT of money though.

Well for games I guess it depends more on the developer. A lot of people generally hate EA and won't buy the game even if they like it. With Indie games on the other hand, some people feel more inclined to buy it to help them out (the little guy).

The petition is tempting, but I'm not keen on having to make an account in order to sign one petition.

Lol, I can get that. A LOT of people hate EA, including me. I just like the games and it's too big to download. I like to help out people who I feel deserve it, so yeah. Though only with EA I like sims too much to let it flop because of the company.

I also thought the same thing. I didn't really want to do it, but I did it once and just threw away the key for my account for this.

They'd be on vacation anyways. They work for about 130 days of the year.

Hi, this is being discussed over in the Polls forum, and since a previous thread that was opened on the same subject a couple of days ago was closed as duplicate, and referred to the existing Polls Topic, I'm doing the same:

Please continue discussion (and mention the petition if it's not already been brought up) there:
