I am totally ageist anime going mainstream. I don't want it to become like the gaming industry where all the big companies take over and turn the anime industry into something it isn't or westernizing it. Part of the reason why I like anime is because it's weird and different which is what sets it apart from regular american cartoons. I believe that if anime does mainstream, it will lose the creative edge that got me into anime in the first place.

I hope Anime becomes mainstream in the sense that Toonami goes to prime time. I don't hope it becomes mainstream in the sense that we have a complete Funimation (or any other company, really) domination over western Anime, The Big 3 getting bigger, all-out controversy battles against Bible Belters and Nanny Staters (these people are powerful as they are devious), or the Anime Industry fully embracing Hollywood Politics(it would be an inconvenient truth).

I have to say it would be nice to see some shows go mainstream but i just know with all the hype the fan baseis gonna prolly get too big and change the weird goofy action anime we all love to watch i dont wanna see the potential in Anime shit to all the other trash on tv. I just really miss the anime blocks that G4TV used to have.

I would love for Toonami to come back to 5:00 pm on the weekdays after school. But the problem with that is they could never show the good shows. You know, the ones that have some blood and perversion every now and then. Shows like Naruto, One Piece, and Pokemon were good choices, but parents didn't want their children to watch stuff like Tenchi Muyo, Rurouni Kenshin, or Gundam Wing because they felt those shows were just a touch too mature for kids.

In my opinion, why Cartoon Network put Toonami on their block is beyond me, and, while I'm grateful they did....To me, it just didn't belong.

Now, I'm all for a TV channel dedicated entirely to anime, but this will probably never happen because there is just SOOO much anime out there, it's not even funny. Now, an anime channel like Neon Alley could probably pull it off if they followed HBO's example of having multiple channels dedicated to various television/ film genres. Only have the multiple channels dedicated to various anime genre.

You know what? That sounds like a perfect solution. Let Neon Alley or Funimation go to television!

Now, if Toonami aired every night at midnight, that would be a fine solution as well

Funimation has had a TV channel for some time:

The fact that you were not even aware it existed should give you an idea of how well that has worked out.

The Anime Network also had a linear TV channel at one point, but they gave up on it. They are strictly video on demand now on cable systems.

Neon Alley is also giving up their online linear channel as of April 1, and will become part of Hulu:
