Despite being a music lover, my collection of songs/albums grows painfully slowly. Only about 1 and a half albums per month. The reason being that I like to fully memorize pretty much every song I buy before moving on to the next purchase. I know what nearly every one of the thousand or so songs that I have sound like all the way through.

But I know that not everyone is going to go through that trouble, and I know that some people have thousands of songs in their library. So I'm interested in what goes through other people's minds as they but new CDs or put new songs on their iPod.

I pay ten dollars a month to use Spotify on my computer and mobile device. One of the best decisions I've ever made, musically.

I have instant access to anything I want, free reign to download and play from my mobile phone (with the monthly fee - you can just play it on your computer with ads without paying). They update almost immediately as soon as new albums come out and sometimes have access to special behind the scenes recordings. Love it!

Mine grows slowly, but it's still more than I can keep up with. Like you I purchase about 1 and a half albums per month (though often a bit part of that is unrelated tracks from multiple albums) because that's what I'm committed to via my annual subscription to eMusic, but I don't find all that much time in a day or a week to listen to what I buy. Especially since my current listening "project" is to listen to, and rate, everything that I've got on my computer. There's a lot there. Most of it is stuff I've listened to in the past on physical media, but that I haven't listened to since I ripped it (in enormous batches) to mp3 years ago!

Grows about by 1 album per year.

Nowadays there are legal streaming services... I don't really see the point of buying CD. The only CD I would buy are from Christina Aguilera, but she releases 1 album every 4 year or something.

The last artist I was obsessed with was The Magic Numbers self-titled album... before that it was Vampire Weekend, before that it was Amy Winehouse.

Ah, it basically depends on my bank account. If I've got some extra money then I'll go out and purchase the music I've been wanting. So probably 5 albums a month or so; 2 or 3 albums every two weeks.

Grows by 2 to 3 albums per week so pretty fast I suppose. So many new things come out, it's hard to find the time to give them all the listen they deserve if I buy more. My que is big.
