I think it's the dumbest thing I've seen in a while.

And where's the 2nd analog stick? Are they going to make yet another massive Circle Pad Pro?

I had the same reaction when I saw it (after I came to realize the thing isn't actually an elaborate joke).
However, thinking about the 2DS, it does make some sense. It's really intended as a kind of 'My First Handheld' - I could totally see the under-Sevens playing with this thing. It's not hinged, so it's probably more robust than a 3DS, and the lack of 3D is appropriate for kids whose eyes are still developing.
I mean, I still think the thing looks horrible, but perhaps there's a market for it. I've learned never to underestimate Nintendo, especially when it comes to handhelds.

I totally understand Nintendo dropping 3D as a cost cutting measure, but changing to a slate rather than a clamshell seems like a really bad idea. Especially with its dual-screens. And yet again, Nintendo dropped the ball by not including the 2nd joystick by default. Nintendo has been pretty bad with their hardware lately.

I'm totally disagreeing.

Go to hell you 3ds, I'll buy that 2ds instead@

For serious, it's not as if Nintendo has a bad track record with these things. They're sure they could get away with it so they might.

I'm looking forward to it...slightly, for someone who doesn't have a care about nintendo's handhelds.

I just want a good pokemon game where you can collect over 32 badges and all 385.....5-gillion Pokemon, ok?

Is that to hard? Have Pokemon-Rainbow, using every area like it's freakin Japan!

I've seen the 2ds and I say that is one the most dumbest handheld systems Nintendo has created.

I agree with the "My First Handheld" thing, it looks like its completely for kids.. no offence to anyone. It just looks like its more of a 'I can be thrown and smashed and still work' type of thing.

When I first saw it I thought it was a joke until I actually went to Nintendo's site.
For me the layout of it is just weird and not closing a duel screen for me just feels a little off.
I hope they do also realize that they installed a switch to turn down.. or fully turn of 3D in the 3DS.. hahaha so technically the 3DS is well also the 2DS.. i barely ever play it with 3D on, you have to be looking straight on and all that jazz for it to actually look normal and it also hurts the eyes ;~;!

But whatever Nintendo, do what ya wanna do, still love ya guys!

I don't think you've met.

Meet "The Gameboy Micro"

Also known as "the dumbest handheld system Nintendo has ever created"

FALSE!!!

The Gameboy Micro is a stroke of genius! I own one myself, and I love it! Much better than a fat-ass, kiddy GBA SP. The Micro is sleek, and cellphone-like. Fits right into your pocket. The most portable gaming system ever made!

The best thing about the Micro is that it has a high pixel density because the screen is small. The pixel density should be that high on the DS. The DS screen looks shitty compared to a PSP, and it looks even shittier on the DSi and the XL. Nintendo is dumb as shit for increasing screen size without increasing resolution. Even the 3DS has a paltry 320x240, which is what the original DS should've had. The 3DS should be rocking a MINIMUM of 640x480 on the lower screen and 800x480 on the upper.

not a graphics whore myself, but Nintendo has quite the record of ignoring resolution and focusing on gameplay, which I'll say is a plus.

You know how if a realistic shooter like Call of Duty clips or glitches, people tend to notice and take points off?
While in Mario, that's natural.

The more cartoony art styles can get away with crappy Resolution.

The main reason label GB Micro a failure is how little exposure and recognition it got. I remember hearing about it coming out and going "Woah, I can't wait" then finding it new for 50 bucks at my local Movies Trading Co. 5 years later.

It just came and went like that, Nintendo decided "Gameboy ain't enough no more" and went with the DS instead. Focusing on additional usability over high end visuals.

The PSP's screen power still amazes the hell out of me, but I can't find a single PSP Game comparable in playability to a Pokemon or Mario game.

Different focus you know? Doesn't make the PSP Games bad in any stretch, or any less fun! But my best PSP Game is Final Fantasy 6, and that ain't no PSP Game if you know what I'm sayin.

The DS has a WAY better game library than the PSP. However, if Nintendo was smart, they'd spend their money on higher resolution screens, dual joysticks, or other things that will make more sense long term instead of 3D, making an XL version, cameras and microphones that nobody uses, etc. Nintendo should REALLY focus on the core gaming experience and shed off all the bullshit.

If they dropped 3D, all 3 cameras, the microphone, the gyroscopes, raised screen resolutions, and added a 2nd analog stick, they could lower the price and it and it would be perfect.

Also, Nintendo's online services suck hard. I mean they REALLY suck. Even though the big N is in their 2nd generation of online service, they've learned nothing.
