I agree, The closer it sounds to "english" makes it easier to say and remember, I think. but your example of "Uiharu" Is hard to say *-* Even I can't pronounce it lol

Oo-e-ha-ru

That's not that difficult a name.

After a couple episodes, I can get most of the names down, but after finishing a show, they've got to be really memorable, or be featured in more than 26 episodes for me to continue remembering names after a show is long over.

You're not alone. The only way I got it was one of the characters pronounced it very slowly: "ooo weee haa rooo"

EDIT: I see eyeofpain already responded. lol. Maybe for some people it's easy. While it's a simple enough name on it's own, it's harder to learn it when you're trying to listen to its pronunciation amongst everything else being said.

EDIT: And it's not "e" sound, it's "ee" (long e). ういはる. This is why people say "learn the hiragana, not the romaji".

I always forget the names of characters or get them mixed up. But if its a character I really liked then I find that I remember the name

i'm good with names, so i usually pick them up right away. i supposed it depends on the anime though, 'cause sometimes they don't say the characters' names as often and that's when i have a hard time remembering names.

Frequently, yes. Some of the really good ones or longer ones like Little Busters or Kanon I can, but shorter ones tend to blur and I don't often remember them.

Shameful as it is, you'd be amazed at how many episodes of Clannad it took for me to realize there was a Tomoyo and Tomoya. Or more so that the main male character was Tomoya anyways.

Indeed, I do. I can remember their faces and personalities for the most part but I forget names. But I'm bad with names in real life as well, so it's something I'm use to.

I find them very hard to remember and when other people start talking about characters I'm left standing there thinking who the hell is that.
