He retired once before though, and he came back, obviously.
I honest don't think it will be the last we'll see of Miyazaki. He might be geting old, but his passion still burns.

He's said that before, so we'll see how long it really holds. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he worked until the day he died. He just seems like that type of person. But if he's truly retiring, I hope he enjoys it.

He should take the chance to rest and enjoy retirement. He has so many unforgettable films to his name and deserves to take a break and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Lol there is always one person who has to be a jerk.

That's like saying the DOP on Spielberg films should get all the credit just because Spielberg is a famous name.

You deserve the world for creating Spirited Away.

The bad thing about people like him that are retiring or passing away, is there's not a lot out there in the industry that can take their place.

LOL.. . dont get me wrong, I respect the man

However he was not a nice person to work for and thats coming from some lead directors that did his movies that came out in the past many years . He only check the work of the anime movie , the lead directors basically did everything .Everything. He didnt actually direct those not like what he did for Nausica and the older movies.

Its like at work, the Fellow Surgeon whos is pretty competent actually does the surgery and the known surgeon just watch and say ok , good, proceed.

But I heard he did a lot of handson on one of his last project.

And since Miyazaki sensei tried retiring before , he should make this one officially the final one ..lol and finally give the mantle to his lead directors who worked so hard under his name in Studio Ghibli

I kinda have that feeling as well, although in a sense I think the news just means, "Sorry, guys, I won't be at the office [but you can find me at home]."

I could be wrong, but hasn't he retired multiple times? I remember he always kept coming back, even after they thought Monoke Hime was his last film.
If it's really over, thank you so much, Miyazaki. You introduced me to anime, and everything I've watched began with Laputa.
